MemberHehe, thanks guys! I’ll be coming back here as long as it’s still up, which should be forever 😎

MemberFound it from Wikipedia huh? Yes…I love Wikipedia. Congrats
EliteNick
MemberI had the same problem but a few weeks later they just weren’t there anymore.
EliteNick
MemberYeah, it’s back now finally.
EliteNick
MemberIt’s not back up.
When you try to login it says…
Login is temporarily disabled while we fix some database problems. We’ll be back shortly. // 7/23/2006

MemberYou’re welcome, sounds like the plugin your using just doesn’t check to see if you’re invisible or not before it sets the status.

MemberKingsofChaos – Actually I don’t think he will help, at least not with how he did his version of changing the Yahoo! Status (it doesn’t use the registry at all). However converting to C++ probably wouldn’t be too hard, I’ve found some sites that go step by step with it, but I’m just not interested in doing that since I don’t know C++ too well anyway.
oliezekat – Yes I did use VB6, that’s pretty cool, I’ll look into it when it’s up on SF.

MemberMy friend said when he IMed people on the new one all the text was blank (both his and the person who responded).
I suggest just staying on 7.5 until Yahoo! Messenger 8 is out of beta.
Not really sure why it’d be giving you that problem, you should probably give them feedback here – http://add.yahoo.com/fast/help/us/messenger/cgi_beta_feedback
be sure to tell that all your computer specs.

MemberThat’s a good suggestion, but it also sounds like they might just not be working with Yahoo’s new packets (if there are any), probably being changed/fixed/modified to work along with Windows Live! Messenger.

MemberYes indeed it does look like Yahoo! is listening, lol.
Sorry kates…the reason most of the status changer programs have to have the “remember my ID & password” checked is because Yahoo! will create an entry in the registry that says Yahoo! ID, which is the last logged in ID, but only if remember my ID & password is checked. My program (and a few others) use that string to get the ID of the person so we can create statuses in the persons profile section in the registry (yahoo/pager/profiles/the_current_screen_name/Custom Msgs). I’m currently looking at a way to simply get the screen name off of Yahoo! Messenger though using API, since I know people like you don’t like checking that option when it’s a shared computer.
And yes, HyperYM doesn’t need that to be done because I think his program “injects” Yahoo! Messenger, and doesn’t ever use any of Yahoo’s registry.

MemberThey don’t care about you trying to use 3rd party skins.
Anyway, Dermot said it, but I’ll add a bit more.
Are the skins you’re downloading for the Yahoo! Messenger you have? Old skins for Yahoo! Messenger 5 and below will NOT work on Yahoo! Messenger 6 and up.
Also try reading this tutorial – http://elitenick.com/?page=tutorials&tutorial=how_to_install_yahoo_messenger_skins
The whole installing skins to Yahoo! Messenger is a bit confusing…but that’s really Yahoos’ fault.
EliteNick
MemberProbably. People have been having a lot of login problems lately (including myself), however I haven’t experienced your exact problem (probably because I don’t chat much). I spend more time trying to figure out how I can modify Yahoo! than actually using it. lol.
EliteNick
MemberMaybe it’s because of all the changes they’re probably making so that Y! Messenger will be able to communicate with Windows Live! Messenger. Except it is odd that he hasn’t been able to connect in a long time. Lol.
Question – is your boyfriend on a LAN or wireless network? If so he may need to adjust some settings in the hardware firewall for the network as well.
