Memberthank you a bunch! I use ws_ftp, so I think I can handle the CHMOD thing. But what do I do after I CHMOD the files, and what do I put in the “include ()” ?

I also believe you need your server type MySQL or MS SQL, and the SQL location.
um… that makes no sense what so ever. I’m totally new to this whole MySQL and PHP stuff. Is there anyway the above statement could be explained in simpler terms. I’m so sorry that I dunno much about this, I just really wanna learn, that’s why I’ve got all these annoying questions…

Memberthe readme.txt is totally confusing to a novice like me. it says to CHMOD something to 777. I have no idea what that means… so i’m completely in the dark. I dunno if I wanna use php-nuke just yet though.

Memberum… I really think this is kind of a step down. I mean, the screenshots look like someone just hacked up MSN 6 and released it as version 7. I kinda think that whoever “leaked” MSN 7 is pullin ya’lls leg…

ahh! I suggest you get an updated version of Norton my friend… we had norton 2003 and didn’t upgrade to 2004 or 2005, and we got a horrible virus because norton 2003 isn’t able to handle viruses and adware like the new versions… i’m assuming your subscription to norton is still valid, so an upgrade should only cost about $30 or so.

Memberwhy is that your last resort? if you just back up all your data, everything should be ok. the only way to screw yourself over w/ system restore is to just absentmindedly do one, and not have your important documents and programs backed up…
FirefoxMan
Memberhave you tried system restore. I’ve never had a problem of this magnitude, but who knows. a Sys. restore might just do the trick…

Memberok, i’ll rephrase that. I don’t care much for IE. I feel that it isn’t very secure compared to Mozilla.
FirefoxMan
Memberi’m using Slackware. and i’ll try those commands and see what happens..

Memberwhy not get an Apple eMac? they start @ $800. I added iSight, gave it 512 RAM, and it came to about $1,097. The eMac is more reliable too. It should fit your needs just fine, and should last you a loooong time.

Memberok, it worked!!! yay, now KDE is up and running and I LOVE IT!!!! it works beautifully, much better than Win98 EVER did on that machine, even when it was new! But i’m trying to get hooked up to our home network for my internet connection. We have a home network connecting SBC Yahoo DSL to all our computers… now that i’ve got KDE hooked up, how do I get it connected to our DSL?

Memberk, I fixed the last problem. Everything finally installed perfectly now here’s my last puzzler…. it looks something like this
root@person: ~#
i dunno what to do here. And everytime I type anything I get these wierd commands like
useradd [-p passwd] [-g group]
i know thats not an exact picture but you get the general idea… I tried to typ “launch KDE” but it says “launch, unknown command.” so that’s where i’m needing help. ANYONE who can help PLEASE DO!!! thanks so much…

Memberok… I finally got everything ready to go. but there was a big problem… On the comp i’m installing linux on, there’s about 6.39 gigs on the hard drive… well when I was partitioning my hard drive, it said I only had about 8447.63 mb’s. so when I started the install, about half the way through, it said “cannot write to disk, not enough space.” This is dumb b/c I know for a fact that I have MORE than enough space to put 3 gigs of data on my HD. What can I do to fix this? oh yea, and another thing, while partitioning my HD the… 3rd time, I accidently wrote over Windows… so nothing should be on my HD now right? please help me, cuz i’m really frustrated @ this. It seems that this is the only bump in the road i’ve come to so far, and i’d like to get over this bump quite soon, especially before school gets busy again….

Memberok… i’m ready to install Linux. The problem is that pressing DEL doesn’t do a thing! do I need to have the disk in there while pressing delete? what’s wrong???
FirefoxMan
Memberoh, very nice. I can’t believe I forgot that one. I haven’t had to use that in so long…. thanks so much Cat!
