This might sound corny, but I found it helps me.
I used to only be able to sleep with sound (tv, radio, etc). it is now easier for me to sleep (and stay asleep) by listening to the humming of an oscillating fan (or air conditioner).
another thing that helps me…go to a store such as linens n things or bed bath and beyond and purchase a sleep mask. satin is a nice fabric, it is very soft and keeps your face cool. I started using a sleeping mask when I worked the overnight shifts at wawa. i had trouble getting used to it, as when i awoke the next morning, i found it on the floor or somewhere in my linens.
not only does it block out light, but it helps to keep my eyes closed, should i wake up in the middle of the night. you may look silly doing it, but hey, it is worth a shot! please let me know if you try it out, and if it worked for you.
gossipingraeMemberhahah ewww that is really gross! i must say that i do love KFC’s boneless sweet & spicy wings dipped in ranch sauce. mmmm clogged arteries!
gossipingraeMemberPolarBear, you are absolutely right, i LOVE my job! But I don’t get to show off the city as a tour guide, I’m a cubicle monkey.
In fact, speaking of how lucky I am to be working there, does anyone watch that show on Food Network with Bobby Flay? The one he calls “Throwdown” or something, and challenges each city he goes to to make their signature food? Well, Bobby Flay was in Philly today at the Visitor Center doing a cook off challenge with Philly’s own Tony Luke on who could make the best cheese steak. Of course, real Philadelphians like myself know what REAL Philly cheese steak tastes like, so of course we were going to stay local to our hometown. Tony Luke’s won, hands down.
Just another great thing in the City of Brotherly Love!
gossipingraeMemberSo okay I see you already have a full itinerary. I guess I won’t have time to list the bazillion or so places to see in PHILADELPHIA! And you know Sarah, I could have been so helpful to you, as I just got a job in the Marketing department at the Independence Visitor Center! I could have hooked you up with some free tickets for tourist hot spots!
Hope you have a marvelous time!
gossipingraeMemberHey William,
Well, I graduated from public institutions, high school and college. My cousin just completed her first year of high school at a private, all-girls Catholic academy. She went to public school all the way up until 8th grade. Here is what she tells me about private school…
In private school, you do not have to pick out what you want to wear to school everyday. More time for your kids to sleep in the A.M. if they get showers in the evening.
In private school, she does not deal with “class clowns” or jokesters anymore. There are no fights that break out. Maybe drama from an all-female school, but you know us girls…
The bad things about private school…
You have to pay for something that is already “free”. If you send your kids there, you still gotta pay your school taxes for something you aren’t getting use out of.
You have to pay for uniforms, which cost A LOT. My aunt just shelled out like $400 last summer for her daughter’s uniform. Plus, you have to do laundry like every other day, as opposed to once a week (or every other week, like me, haha).
I personally think that if your kids are go-getters and are already great and never really have trouble with school, why pull them out? Unless they are in danger, I see no need.
Tough decision, though. Let us know what you end up doing.

Well I have never been to California before so I wouldn’t know what to suggest to you. Maybe ask Jeff, which I’m sure you plan on doing.
If you are staying in California, check out Disneyland. Again, I’ve never been. You could fly to Orlando, FL for Disney World, which I hear is much better than Dland. But, hey, it’s up to you.
gossipingraeMemberi think it should just be closed down. i will never become a victim to the whole myspace craze. and besides, it is a ripoff of facebook. facebook was around first!
back to my point, i’m 22 and i don’t do the myspace thing because i feel it is dangerous and scary!
let the weirdos stay there. they need a place to be anyway…
oh and btw, wasn’t myspace first created for bands only? i believe it was a way for them to gain exposure, and then everyone else jumped on the bandwagon.
gossipingraeMembermy best friend’s name is alethea.
gossipingraeMemberget a glass of water and put a spoon in it. put the end of the spoon under your tongue and drink the water. works for me!

gossipingraeMemberI don’t understand how I would have configured it incorrectly. I set the VCR to the correct channel, set the timer for the correct time, and just let it do it’s thing. Am I missing a step?
gossipingraeMemberhaha i am also a pirate!
gossipingraeMemberokay i’m a little (or a lot) late on this one, but who can forget APPLE PIE A LA MODE? nothing is more american than hot apple pie with a huge scoop of vanilla ice cream!
gossipingraeMemberhmm okay i’ll have to look into the tv tuner for my laptop. i’ve tried the old school vcr and timer thingy, but the shows are those corny MTV reality shows like real world and run’s house. this means that whenever i try to record from mtv for those shows, the tape only comes up as snow. i guess MTV blocks those programs? thanks for your help guys!
gossipingraeMemberOats, it was a class I took this past semester in college. It was the American Advertising Federation National Student Advertising Competition. My school’s chapter of the AAF had to design and compile a campaign for a real company called Postal Vault. It really wasn’t that fun, considering we had to market a freakin mailbox! If you are interested you can check outhttp://www.aaf.org if you are interested. I’m sure if you scroll down somewhere it will tell you all about our competition.
