Im in Colombia, and i´ve sent some vms to myself and my dad. Do you have any addres other than gmail? we can give it a test 🙂
jdelectroMemberYup. That´s it 🙂 i checked. Languages other than English(US) will not show the flash based VM player. We´ll have to wait! 😉 For the time now, we have the only option to download and play the file in a third party audio player.
jdelectroMemberYes, me 😉
jdelectroMemberThere´s a player interface in the screenshot you posted, but i cannot see it. Maybe it´s because i´m using a non english language in gmail?
jdelectroMemberNow that´s weird, EK! i dunno how she can use gtalk using an address like @bigblueball.com. Maybe i´m wrong in my suggestion or she´s using another software to voicemail, instead of gtalk. … Btw it would be cool if Gtalk were able to play voicemails without the need of getting into gmail, downloading the mp3 and playing it with the media player software… that´s a looong way to do… In this subject i like the way gtalk2voip does.
jdelectroMemberThe voicemail feature works for @gmail.com contacts. if you voicemail a contact wich is in another service, google talk will ring once and say call was not answered.
jdelectroMemberjesusfreakrkg wrote:I too had this problem the day I was trying to configure GTalk…if you listen to the most recent Big Blue Ball podcast, the guys mention that the transporter that was used in the instructions on how to set up PSI and GTalk was overloaded and had to be shut down to those without a Jabber ID.
You can (as I did) search around for different transporters @ http://www.jabber.org/network/oldnetwork.shtml#geeks
My advice? Don’t even mess with it. It is a very buggy hack and more of a headache than not. Once AIM and GTalk can actually communicate that will be a sweet sweet day! I LOVE how you can set up GTalk’s interface to be bubble-ish like iChat (but alas I have a PC) but the set up is very iffy. You end up signing up for multiple transports for multiple AIM or MSN accounts… and then you have many duplicates in your contact list under different transporters. It truly is a headache…
I’d suggest going with GAIM, Trillian, or AIM Adhack.
The problem is just to find a good jabber server… but there are a lot of good ones! try several of them. I use jabber.no and aszlig.net. Register as many accounts as you want!
And about removing duplicate contacts! forget Gtalk for doing that! Seriously nobody should get into the torture of deleting 100 contacts one by one on your gtalk roster!!
Log into your gmail account, and click Contacts. Then do a search using the transport´s name wich is being used by the duplicate contacts. There you go! just click select all in the lower part of the page, and delete them. Changes are also happily shown in gtalk contact list! :woot:
I know i explained it well. but i was just bored and did this for you 😉
Sorry for the spanish language setting! wasn´t bored enough to switch it and change it back :pjdelectroMemberMaybe your friend should use Gizmo project. Taken from http://www.google.com/talk/developer.html :
Quote:We currently support open federation with any service provider that supports the industry standard XMPP protocol. This includes Earthlink, Gizmo Project, Tiscali, Netease, Chikka, MediaRing, and thousands of other ISPs, universities, corporations and individual users.I cannot certify it, but somewhere in http://www.gizmoproject.com they say both programs can voicechat. And if they don´t directly, there´s the http://www.gtalk2voip.com gateway to connect beetwen the two programs (use it at your own discresion!). Tell your friend about all this and if it works drop some rep 😉
jdelectroMemberQuote:Rep for you, by the way. Thanks spike! my pleasure ^_^
jdelectroMemberDon´t forget file transfer 🙂
jdelectroMemberThank you so Much!!
