MemberI was afraid of that. We have a group that chats on AIM, and our AOL person is not always there. 🙁

Well, as I said, yesterday I talked to their tech support and they said their server was backlogged so it wasn’t working until they reset it. Once I tested after that, it did work for me yesterday, but only for one of my screennames. I sent them an email and am waiting to see what they say. RIght now I can’t send to ‘DoorManBot2’ at all (after pressing ‘send’ it just waits there), so they must still be having server problems .

MemberAhh… ok, talked to their support… their server was backlogged is all… worked once they reset it.

MemberHmmm.. OK, I tried using the syntax “BUDDYSCREENNAME:Hi there” and sent a message to DoorManBot2 (to my other ID that wasn’t logged onto AIM yet), BUT when I logged onto the other ID, I didn’t get any message. Is there a delay? Does it still work
mikenowo
MemberYeah, that’s the one (DoorManBot)!
thx!mikenowo
MemberAHA! Figured how to turn the autoupgrade off in the registry, since there’s no option in the AIM preferences) at least in this/my version. All I had to do was change the ‘AutoUpgradeLater’ value in the registry to a value of ‘1’.
Here’s the key that has to be updated in case anyone else wants/needs this (based on your AIM Screenname of course):
[HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareAmerica OnlineAOL Instant Messenger (TM)CurrentVersionUsers*YOU_AIM_SCREEN_NAMEAutoUpgrade]
“AutoUpgradeLater”=dword:00000001mikenowo

Go figure, mine only has two options:
-Final Release
-Beta and Final releasesNo option for ‘just beta’

MemberNo, there are 3 buttons, but none of them allows you to stop the message from appearing again :-/
-Upgrade Now
-Cancel

There are several ways to do this…
1. Logon with that SN, Click on My AIM-Update e-mail and it must show you the old one and a blank space for you to introduce the new one.
2. Logon with that SN. Now, right-click on one buddy SN and choose Send Mail…, if you didn’t create the AIM SN using the netscape mail account (you probably didn’t), then it will ask you to join Netscape Network…to do that it will ask you for your e-mail address, but, as you will see, the field is already filled in with the e-mail account you gave them upon registration. If you did register and everything, anyway it will be shown on the From: field of the e-mail.
Whas that what you were asking for?
Hope it helps,
N.-
YUP! Both worked. And now I see why I didn’t get an email back, that email addy is ANCIENT! Must have set it up ages ago.
Thx!

MemberShift+Enter doesn’t work for me in CHAT, doesn’t do anything.
mikenowo
MemberI stand corrected. I took a closer look at the preferences and now see the IM and Chat options are in separate sections. ‘Enter’ does only apply to IMs. Thanks for the corroboration. 😮
mikenowo
MemberThat’s what I figured. Odd that in the preferences is says the option is for both IM AND chat though. False advertizing. 😡

MemberMy version is 5.2.3292… doesn’t say anything about being a beta

Memberhmm.. well no, doesn’t mean anywhere on the screen. It means if you drag the window to the far left (or top, or bottom or right of the screen) it attaches itself there. You can see it stick on that side as if by glue or tape. To unattach it you drag it away and it becomes a ‘floating’ window again.
Afraid that’s the best that I can explain it 🙁
mikenowo
Memberer… yes… but does it DOCK[/b] to the sides (i.e. attach itself to the top, bottom, left or right)? Mine doesn’t. Other apps do.
