Yes, I have tried with Windows firewall OFF and ON and Zone Alarm OFF and ON – makes no difference! I have also tried with no other programs ruuning except items in the systems tray like MS MOney, Palm Organizer, USB Control, Roxio, etc.

Having now at least SPOKEN with PK – and having known others with similar problem in the past – I’m DETERMINED to settle this one!Firstly, I was very surprised to find googling Voice server currently unavailable found NOTHING (and ditto on other good search engines).
I conclude that this is due to this exact wording being new on Yahoo, but I instead found Yahoo Help for a “similar” phrase h e r e (“US”version*).
PK, I’m sure that THAT link must get to the heart of your problem!! As a benchmark (as MY voice chat works fine) I‘ve run their suggested tests as follows:
-1- (Firewall..) – We’ve verified PK has YM set to “no proxies”, so no problem here.
-2- Try this test simply opens a Yahoo page with some technical info – which oddly breaks off mid-sentence, after “…(or other intrusion d ” !!
-3- “telnet vc.yahoo.com 5000” – This instantly pops up window titled “Telnet – vc.yahoo.com” as described, with “Connecting to vc.yahoo.com…” in it. Nothing else happens, and window vanishes after about 30sec.
SO, PK… I know you are excellent at following clear instructions 😉 so try this, and lets see if it’s -2- or -3- where you part company from all us happy voice chatters! 😎
* Yahoo Help have a similar page here (“AU”version) with just very slightly different wording. I do WISH they would keep their worldwide act together.
Mr Yahoo, please defrag your worldwide websites  !Hi Ian, I checked out Items 2 and 3. My computer behaved exactly the way you have described above. Item 2 test displayed the Yahoo page on Ports used but cutoff after the 1st line of the second para as you have suggested. Item 3 displayed the same screen you ahve described and automatically dissapeared after a few seconds.
Strange in deed. Just a thought — could my ISP be doing anyhting to cause this problem???pkorisaMemberHI Eagle Kiwi, I cheked out both of the web pages that you referenced. they dealt with YM Beta 7 and Net2Phone. It looks like the Net2Phone’s association with Yahoo in YM Beta 7’s Call function is on a PAY basis, where as in YM 6.0 Voice Chat was a FREE conversation with other contacts. Are u saying that YM Beta 7 does NOT offer the FREE Vocie Chat anymore? Thanks.
pkorisaMemberHI ToeBee, yes, I have completely deleted and reinstalled YM 6.0 several times. Hasn’t helped any. I went to XP Home few months back – may be a year back. Before that I had Windows ME. I KNOW the Voice Chat in YM’s IM was working just fine, and I just had not used it in my XP environment. So something in XP Home with SP-2 may be the cause of the problem, but I am not getting much help from Yahoo. Thanks.
pkorisaMemberHI, Eagle_Kiwi,
Yes, it is my single PC that’s getting to internet via the dial-up connection. I have just been trying to use the Voice Chat in the YM’s IM window. And, i do not see “Invite to Voice Conference” anywhere in my YM 6.0’s IM choices. I do see “Invite to Conference in the IM’s Contact menu options but I have not tried that. And, if I can’t get this thing resolved, i will try to download Ym Beta 7.
Thanks for your ideas.pkorisaMemberWhat do you mean try to remove it by running the spy/ad programs either way? My AdAware SE Personal and Spybot do not find it when I run them. Please tell me what else I can do to remove it.
I did a Search of my C Drive and I did not find any entry with the “Net2Phone” name!
ThankspkorisaMembermiGs wrote:Net2Phone is internet telephony.. however it charges users for this service. What version of Y!M are you using?
Yahoo Messenger is 6,0,0,1922 and My Yahoo Module is 6,0,0,600
Thanks you
pkorisaMemberToeBee wrote:I think Net2Phone is spyware. Have you ran any antispyware programs?Yes, i keep up-to-date and run AdAware SE Personal and SpyBot-Search and Destroy and Spyware Blaster regularly, and nothing has ben found. I also have Zone Alarm to prtoect intruders. Thanks.
pkorisaMemberHi lvmadonna, I have a similar problem to what you had in 2004. Can you please send me some help on how you solved the problem. Pl. send it to [email protected]. Here is my exact problem:
I am having trouble with the Voice Chat when using the Yahoo Messenger’s Instant Messaging. I am running Windows XP Home with SP-2, and have 256 MB RAM and 80 GB hard drive space. I have even reformatted my hard drive and installed everything from scratch but I still get the same problem. I am on a 56 Kbps dial-up connection.
When I “Invite a contact to enable voice chat,” I get the status line message saying: “Connecting to audio server, please wait….” Then after a few seconds, I get a small pop-up window with the message: “Voice server is currently unavailable.”
I run the Audio Setup Wizard, and all steps pass OK except Step 4 of 5: Connection. In this step 4 of 5, it says “The wizard could not connect to Yahoo Voice chat. The wizard successfully connected to Net2Phone.”
I have searched my computer thoroughly and Net2Phone is not to be found anywhere in my computer! I am totally lost as to why the Wizard is connecting to Net2Phone (who is Net2Phone!), and if this is the reason why my Voice chat is not working and is not finding the Voice server!
I even turned OFF XP’s Firewall and deactivated Zone Alarm but the problem is still there!I sure would appreciate greatly any help/suggestion you may give me on how I can solve this problem and use the Voice chat feature.
Thank you so much.
