MemberI had the same problem when I first tried to connect the two a while back (when it first became possible). I was hoping by now that someone would have found a way to fix this. Is there anyone who has found a transport without this issue? Or solved it in another way? I guess I could run the Who’s Online program, but the refresh on that isn’t the quickest.

MemberI don’t know too much about programming, but it seems to me that since you can have AIM alert you as to when someone comes online, you should be able to write a program doing what you want. All you would need to do is write a program capable of sending a message through AIM and then either hack AIM so that instead of an alert the program is started, or have a certain native AIM alert sound or notice trigger the program.

MemberIf they are online, you could check his/her online time and see if it corresponds to when you were signed off (although the time shown can be manipulated with a variety of programs). You could ask someone else who may have been signed on at the time. There is no way of aquiring the data from the AIM server or the person’s computer that I know of.

MemberCould be a problem with your computer rather than AIM. Try and shut down as many programs and background processes as possible. My computer has some trouble with large and memory intensive media files and the sound is always the first to go.

MemberGooogle talk’s website states that you must use google talk to voice chat. It had (has?) a nice table of which features are supported by the more popular third party programs (and whether or not they are available for macs), but I was unable to find it just now. If you find a solution I would love to know about it, I’m on a PC but a few of my friends are on macs.

MemberExactly what are you logging with? I run google desktop and it seems to work fine.

MemberThanks, I’m looking forward to when the two actually merge. All of my friends are on AIM, but I prefer google talk.

MemberTerms and conditions always apply to you in a program like AIM, even if you registered before they were issued. There is always a clause in the ones you agree to that they can be changed at any time with or without notice. So when you registered it has nothing to do with it. I have had two screennames deleted, but I also have one that was not used for more than six months and fine. I think it’s more or less they have a right to delete it, if they get around to it – not that they will.
Also, just because you can’t see someone doesn’t mean they aren’t using the sn. I believe you have always been able to set the privacy settings on AIM to only allow your friends to see you or know you are online.

MemberYou can’t do white on white, but if you make the font nearest to white possible it will not turn gray as it does if you select white. this will make it invisible to anyone not looking for it.

MemberThere is no way for you to know they aren’t using a sn. They may just have privacy settings so only their friends know they have it. As far as the time limit goes, when it was originally started it was 90 days and i’m not sure if it has changed. I’ve lost one sn, but others still worked so i’m not sure how they do it.

MemberDid you recently upgrade AIM or make any changes to your computer, ie install/uninstall other programs???

MemberHave you tried to contact him when it says he is offline (but you know he is online)?

MemberI’m no expert on AIM security, but it’s never a good idea to direct connect with someone you don’t trust. As far as third parties being able to access your ip, I don’t believe that direct connecting with someone else makes you any more or less vulnerable someone please correct me if i’m wrong.

MemberAs Cronus said, I believe the people and you must be registered on buddy zoo

MemberDo you want mail and other AIM alerts? If not, simply disabling them may cause the message to stop.
