it seems as if you do not have enough avaible ram. Maybe downgrading would work. or perhaps using a alternative client?
Alternative clients:
– Gaim (http://gaim.sourceforge.net/)
– Trillian (http://www.ceruleanstudios.com/)open a conversation with them, under their display picture there will be a little arrow pointing downwards. Click on it, then select view conact card.
If they have a space, you will see it there. If one appears, click on it.
Does this work? What problems occur?
One method would be using Stuffplug Ng (http://www.stuffplug.com), a plugin for Msgplus! (http://www.msgplus.net)
Then you can go to the Configuration Pages -> Contact List -> Tab Manager.
and it is pretty straight forward from there 🙂
Maybe try a reinstall of messenger?
