You can’t hide and send message at the same time- why would you want to do this, unless you want to be immature? (Okay I’M immature but I’m not THAT immature.)Say if you need to send someone a message without exposing yourself to the vrowd that will be pestering you! 🙂

You can’t send messages to people, or see their details when you’re in offline mode.- if you’re offline, that usually means you don’t want to send messages, or you could just log on.You can send messages when in invisible mode- why would you want to do this?
Yes, but I was thinking more of when you’re disconnected from the internet.

You can’t leave messages for people who are offline- you can in messenger plus, or you could send them an emailWith Plus, you still have to be online. With ICQ, you can leave a message and go offline again.

Anyone can add you to their list-How is that a problem, if you don’t want someone to add you to their list just refuse permission when you get asked about it.I just wanted to be pedantic! 😉

As for what is so “special” about MSN, why not have a look through the features here or at the official MSN Messenger site.Thing is.. not many of those features are actually USEFUL.
They’re fun, sure, andI guess that’s why the newer generation of net users (mostly kids) find MSN to be the dog’s bollocks.Anyway, matttren, check out my MSN vs ICQ comparison list in this forum. You may find ICQ much more useful than something from M$! 🙂
A plus is that you can add AIM users and talk to them via the ICQ client.vinnielo
MemberHow about you record each person’s name as an audio file, and get it to play when they come online, in User’s Unique Settings?
vinnielo
MemberHow about using ALT-S, (which also works on most of the other messengers)?

MemberProblem solved.
It was a corrupt database.

MemberDoes FarEasTone deal with your SMS’s?
I tried emailing FarEasTone to ask why they had anything to do with it, and why no SMS messages could be received in the UK.
They blabbed on about how they only send to users on FarEasTone networks.
They eventually told me to ask at ICQ, but no one answers questions properly, there, as we all know!

MemberI think ICQ has pretty much died here in the UK.
It seems less than 20% of online users have heard of ICQ, let alone have an account with them.
Most people here use MSN, and with schoolkids all wanting to chat online to their pals, the “increase” is increasing!!
I’ve heard Americans mainly use AIM, and Far Eastern people use ICQ for the multilingual support.

MemberIs there anything to stop ex-Mirabilis programmers to start from scratch and rebuild their own IM system?
There were great features added every now and then when they were still in charge.
vinnielo
MemberWell, I’ve downgraded to 3800, so please post here when you’re aware that something has been added.
Thanks in advance.
vinnielo
MemberNope, I’ve tried all the networks they list for the UK.
I’m probably after observations here, rather than claims.

MemberSomeone mentioned that add-ons are not supported in the alpha version.
I’ve just downloaded the final version of 2003b, and I can’t find the option to check for incoming emails.
Have they removed the feature, then?
