It's been less than one month since the initial launch of Yahoo! Messenger for the iPhone, and the Yahoo! Messenger blog reports that an updated version is already available in the iTunes App Store. Yahoo! Messenger 1.1 promises an improved reliability and sign-in experience — a big problem for many early adopters.
The Yahoo! Messenger app remains free, works with both the iPhone and iPod Touch, and now supports the landscape keyboard — a nice touch if you log a lot of hours on IM.
Yahoo also added a “Report a Problem” feature that gives you a direct channel back to Yahoo for problems or even suggestions.
Yahoo product manager Sarah Bacon also thanks everyone for sharing their feedback on the beta version 1.0.
Here's some additional feedback: Change the “available” indicator in the contacts list from yellow to green (like every other online indicator on the PLANET!). Please.

This is a great update for Yahoo Messenger. I’ve ways been wanting the Landscape mode But I never of thought it would happen. Jeez this is why I love Yahoo. 🙂

For what it’s worth, I tested on the iPhone OS 3.0 beta 4, and it seems to work fine. 😉
Lynne Logan says
Very disappointed with new version as I STILL CANT CONNECT on my iphone to messenger – says “connecting” but never does…really wish this could be fixed as I would love to be able to use this program.
Jeff Hester says
Lynne, not to rub it in but it’s working for me. Can you sign-in with that account on your computer? I’m wondering if it’s restricted to the USA for now.
Mark Andrews says
Lynne, you’re not alone. There’s a post on the official Yahoo blog that says a lot of people have complained about connection problems with the iPhone app. Product manager Sarah Bacon is asking everyone to use the “report a problem” option under settings if this happens.
I know that doesn’t help solve your problem, but at least you know Yahoo is aware of it and working on it.

Yahoo Messenger stopped working properly when I installed 3.0 in my Iphone. Not receiving offline messages, offline friends appearing as ‘Online’, etc.
Jeff Hester says
I’m running 3.0 on my iPhone, and it’s working fine. Juan, are you running the latest Y! Messenger app (version 1.1)?
