Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do.
Since It is only connecting to port 5050.
Generally when you are behind a firewall, messenger uses a HTTP version of the YMSG Protocol.
In 2.1, I might add that for those that are behind a proxy.
November 25, 2004 at 3:16 am #71879princeGParticipantI turned off the firewall but still nothing works when clicking on next. Changing servers also is what I tried but.. nada.
November 25, 2004 at 4:35 am #71723UnSaKreDMemberInstead of closing the firewall(which one is it btw?) why not open up port 5050, so you can still have some protection running.
November 25, 2004 at 4:42 am #71880princeGParticipantI have the firewall that windows xp service pack 2 provides.
However I dont know how to open the 5050 port, can u tell me how to do it.November 25, 2004 at 4:44 am #71724UnSaKreDMemberAh, ok sp2 firewall should have asked you when you first run the program, to keep blocking or unblock the program.
Under Network Connections -> Lan or choose your connection
I believe there is a tab for the firewall, that will show all the programs that are blocked/allowed.

November 25, 2004 at 2:19 pm #71725UnSaKreDMemberBuddy Spy 2.1, is now at 80% completion and the beta will be released within two days.
So far, previous bugs have not been an issue, particularly the webcam jump. (although ill wait till aneagle tests it to find out for certain) lol
And as requested I have added Gridlines On/Off for the Report, also to display the report in color or not.
There are no icons, to confuse people in this version, just plain text.
Screen Shot Time!
Main/Welcome Window:
Configure Window
Spy Report Window
Thats it for now, check back soon!
Thanks, UnSaKreDP.S. Instead of spamming this board to ask for betas, and take up un-needed space, please just click on the click me button, and send me a message.

I got better webcam scan result on DSL. The webcam jump is due to high traffic on the internet connection when I have the to-be-scanned webcam turned on and BuddySpy on the same computer with dialup connection.November 25, 2004 at 4:28 pm #71656loveforwordsMemberI am having trouble installing… here is the error message:
Component MSWINSCK.OCX or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid
I did a check of my drive and don’t have this file. Where can I get it?
Thanks!
November 25, 2004 at 5:02 pm #71822aneagleParticipantLoveforwords,
Search google and you find where to get it.
Here is an example of where to copy the OCX to and how to register it:

November 26, 2004 at 10:04 am #71726UnSaKreDMemberBuddy Spy 2.1 is now at 100% done,
And I even found time to add another set of options.
In previous buddy spy’s the online packet was pre-selected,
In 2.1 you have the Option to change the packet to check if the user is
online or offline. There are three Packet Types available, Invite/Peer To Peer/ Status.
Now the Third is the default, and generally speaking is the best.
I am calling it Status, because to be honest, im not sure of what this packet is truely used for in the Yahoo! Messenger Environment, I got lucky with a packet sniffer lol.
The Private beta has been released as a full install (file size is 4.6 megs).
I think I might have to switch Installer Program, the setup includes some of the missing components people were complaining about.
I will also create a lite installer that should be about half that size.
Anyone know of a good Installer program?
Also, I registered the domain, http://www.buddy-spy.com for use with this project.
And I am still going to release it as open source, so when the program is made publicly available, you can go there to download the program and source code.
For all those that program with VB or even C++, please modify the code, and re-submit it.
Thats it for now.
Thanks
November 26, 2004 at 1:13 pm #71823aneagleParticipantUNSAKRED,
I run 2.1.0 and try every scenario I can have. I like the grid, I like the color change, I like the professional way with packet options.
– List scan result is correct and comprehensive. There’s conflicting result In some rare cases and this is fixed by changing the scan option, it’s due to high upload traffic on my internet connection.
– Left click on an ID of the list automatically delete the ID. Left click on the list window but outside an ID field got runtime error and crash, I did this by using my mouse with my other hand, LOL.
November 26, 2004 at 1:17 pm #71727UnSaKreDMemberI will check the list error, and will be adding saving the packet scan type, so when you shut down it doesnt switch to default.
Thanks for giving it a test run.
