I don’t think it really matters or not if we know the client type. Since it’s not really the purpose of the program, I wonder if the extra overhead is worth it….. unless there isn’t much overhead at all.

(EDIT: There was a large warning placed in this thread about double posting. I have pasted your second post below, which you edited at one point. Please use “edit” in future rather than double posting. Thank You.)
“UPDATE”
Something new I just discovered.
I was in a user-created room with Yahelite and was doing some testing with BuddySpy on another person in the room (not myself). At one point I noticed my bot (that BuddySpy uses) enter the room and then leave it. BuddySpy then returned the correct information to me. However, the room filled up (it’s usually full but with Yahelite you can tell the user count) and I was not able to get an accurate status from BuddySpy aftewards, nor did I see my bot ever return to the room after many attempts. I am wondering if the accuracy of BuddySpy is dependent upon the bot being able to enter the room or not (i.e. the room that the buddy is in is full and therefore the bot cannot enter the room to verify status).
Just curious as I had never simultaneously been in a room that I was testing a buddy in.
Once again.. great job so far…

Gridlines can be added or removed(that will be in the program settings)
Secondly, Buddy Spy and Rooms.
Buddy Spy will only return a value of the room if it is not full or private.
If your Buddy is in a Full Room, Buddy Spy’s bot can not enter it.
Here is the latest Screen Shot as of Nov, 15th.
November 15, 2004 at 6:32 pm #71773kimmyMemberQuote:quote:Originally posted by kimmyI’ve been using this for about a month now and it works great! Just one question. When ‘spying’ on someone, I got a response saying buddy is in room **, and also buddy is in 110. What type of room is this? All it states is a number. Does anyone know?
Dan I am, I had the same thing happen to me. Could not figure out what type of room my buddy was in. It actaully said they were in a room and also somewhere else.
November 16, 2004 at 3:51 am #71902MilehidanMemberFirst off, my appologies if this has been previously brought up and I missed it as I was scanning the posts…………
I had and older version of buddy spy, and worked great, never a problem. Had a puter crash and had to reinstall everything, now have the v 2.0.0, and can not get it to locate anyone as “online” every search returns as offline, even as I search myself. am I possibly missing a required file.
Thanks
DanNovember 16, 2004 at 5:37 pm #71884ironbruMemberWell I like the second plain text version too ……..more over personally I think it will be useful to know if they are using or not the Messenger client …….so yup try to add this option in the future builds ….
once again …….your work’s awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!
ThanksNovember 17, 2004 at 12:16 am #71734bronxyMemberit would be cool if you could then goto the chatroom they are currently in.
also when you see if they are online or not, sometimes they might be away from the computer, going idle. would be cool for it to say if they are idle or not when they are invisable.
November 17, 2004 at 12:25 am #71719UnSaKreDMemberWell, Buddy Spy 2.1 is going pretty well.
I think I have the gui to my liking now. (although im a bit of a perfectionist, so things could change lol)
I am overhauling Buddy Spy’s engine, as they say.
And will be fine tuning it.
I will also be making a dll file to go along with buddy spy, so the overhead in the exe isnt as much, and should run the code faster.
I am taking all these sugestions, and hopefully I will be able to impliment them all, in the next release of Buddy Spy.
Thank you for all your help, comments, suggestions.

Future website of buddy spy, will be located at
It is currently up, but I am still working on it.
November 17, 2004 at 12:03 pm #71762comewithmeMemberI know tons and tons of status checker for both MSN messenger and yahoo messenger. But regarding yahoo messenger, Buddy Spy is THE BEST so far…and will not have concurent in the next months.
Now, I would like to know, is there any status checker as efficient as Buddy Spy, but for MSN messenger???
Remember I said I know plenty of them, but I want the most efficient, which can even scann when the buddy is set to invisible.
Unsakerd, any advise?November 18, 2004 at 11:43 pm #71720UnSaKreDMemberBuddy Spy 2.1 Update,
Bug Fixes So Far,
Invalid Roomname or Mismatched Entries, Fixed.
Other Than that, most of the fixes wont go noticed,
Alot of Fine tuning of the data retrieval, everything seems to be running alot smoother.
Project right now is at 30% overall done.
I will be releasing betas of 2.1 within a week or so.
Thanks everyone.
November 22, 2004 at 1:54 pm #71903jtuscanoMemberFirst I would like to say thank you for this program, and making it available for free!!!
I have read through all the posts, but am still having a problem. There is an invisible buddy that is showing up as online when I look at their profile, but buddy spy is showing them as offline. Any suggestions?
November 23, 2004 at 10:59 pm #71885ironbruMemberHi guys …….uhmmmmmm ……I guess something’s gonna change , I mean suddenly the webcam check is down …….does anyone else have the same problem???????
November 23, 2004 at 11:38 pm #71735bronxyMemberyeah I have the same problem
its been like that for two days now.November 24, 2004 at 8:49 am #71886ironbruMemberGood news !!!!!!!!!! ……..today all seems to work properly !!!!!!!!
See yaNovember 24, 2004 at 11:42 am #71721UnSaKreDMemberGenerally speaking when Yahoo! last patched the Webcam, all they did was switch servers.
I wouldnt put it past them to do it again, But this is of course Why I am adding another Option to allow for Server Changing of the Webcam Server as well as the YMSG Protocol Server.Unfortunately, this is the best way to check for webcam’s with out the other person knowing about it.
You could obviously send Anonymous Cam Request’s with out much difficulty, but that still will reveal to much, or at least I believe so.
I will be releasing private beta’s within the next few days, for those who PM me requesting one.
Also, some people are having connection issues concerning buddy spy, and a few other programs that require an active Internet Connection.
I have been brainstorming as to why they are unable to connect.
But still I have come up with nothing, any ideas?
Just an F.Y.I., the person I have been talking with, doesn’t have any third party firewalls running and is on windows xp home (not sure if its SP2 {SP2 Limits Connections})
Buddy Spy 2.1 is now 50% done, I will probably have it up to about 75% by the end of the day (hopefully)
Although that is not a certainty lol
If anyone wishes to test, buddy spy 2.1 then click on the smiley down below and send a message.
Thats it for now, thanks for all the suggestions/comments/thanks.
