Booting is a problem, especially for teenage kids with nothing better to do than mess with people. You can get booted out of the Yahoo chat rooms, but you can also get booted out of Yahoo PMs.
How does this work? Well, Yahoo Messenger allows some HTML code. That’s what makes the colors, faders and other special tricks work. Unfortunately, it’s also what lets deviants use to boot you. They can put in the right HTML code and cause your Yahoo Messenger to crash.
Fortunately, there is an antidote. Open the filter1.txt file with Notepad. You’ll find it in the Yahoo folder (usually C:Program FilesYahoo!Messenger).
Add these words to the filter1.txt file:
, , url(, onLoad=, http://, www, That should keep you safe from booters.
What’s the downside? Well, you’ll now see font size, fade codes, etc. in the messages (if someone is using them). But you won’t get booted.

I will be in one room and all of a sudden wind up in another room that i would rather not be in. Thank you so much for the booter prevention text…i have been looking all over the place for something.

This is my first time writing. I am discusted by the people who boot others, and really needed a antibootter and i checked your site which has a antiboter. But i a still being booted by people in chat room. So i hope u can help me man.
thanks AjitMay 23, 2002 at 10:16 pm #102183DaveMemberWould this also work:
<<,<a,<con,<htm,<java,<snd,<sound
If I add that to my filter1.txt file would it serve the same function and also stop me from being booted by juvenile delinquents…?
I am not sure if it will be as effective as the text posted in the first post in this thread. I am loathe to try it until someone lets me know it is safe to include in my filter1.txt file. As I know nothing about these sorts of things maybee someone who does know could let me know if this is an effective way of preventing boots.
Here is the link where I found it: http://www.sdsforever.com/yahoofixs/stopbooters.html
I hope I can post links in this forum…if I can not then could an admin edit it out for me.
Thanks!

May 27, 2002 at 1:59 am #102185highland_butterflyMemberI got a tip from a booter (who felt sorry for booting me cause he thought I was a guy) to uninstall messenger 5.0 and install messenger 4.1. This helped a lot, even though I find myself waiting in the room for all my friends to get back in. But now the booters are realizing that it didn’t work on me and they are sending me 500+ web cam invites, and that sure does get me ( even though my preferences are set at “ignore other view requests”. Do you have any tips on stopping this type of boot?

June 30, 2002 at 5:28 am #102178detn8rParticipantHEY JEFF, I GOT NEWS FOR YA. YOUR CODES DONT WORK!!![/b]
The best bet from how to stop others from booting you is to run trillain… just turn off the sound… you MAY get some lag… but just block and delete em!
Lil puke faces!
