Actually, there seems to be a problem with the logging feature. Although it’s not a permanent fix, turning off logging does stop the problem from reoccurring.
As for the animated display pictures, I believe someone reported that they will be a pay-to-use only feature. We’ll have to wait and see.October 3, 2004 at 3:20 am #71095AwesomeSauceParticipantQuote:quote:Originally posted by detn8rActually, there seems to be a problem with the logging feature. I’ll download this once it comes out in Nov., when most of the bugs will probably be fixed. Other than those, it looks pretty cool. in ladie-vennom’s screenshots, the default skin looks a lot similar to the one in Windows Media Player 10. Microsoft seems to be going somewhere with that. 🙂
October 3, 2004 at 4:40 am #71071detn8rParticipantI’ve wipped up some screenshots of features that people may not have first noticed when they installed 7.0. If you come accross anything I may have left out, please feel free to add them here.
October 3, 2004 at 7:17 am #71088shahidMemberdownloaded version 7, its nice …but messenger plus stopped working in it:(
October 3, 2004 at 7:45 am #71107FirefoxManMemberum… I really think this is kind of a step down. I mean, the screenshots look like someone just hacked up MSN 6 and released it as version 7. I kinda think that whoever “leaked” MSN 7 is pullin ya’lls leg…
October 3, 2004 at 8:54 am #71094f0rbezMemberThats generally what they do when they make a new version.. Take the old one and change it, add features, ect. Its not fake, I don’t even see how you can claim it is.
Now when I try to run windows messenger, it won’t launch. Worked fine with 6.2. Anyone know of a fix?
October 3, 2004 at 1:34 pm #71061Jeff HesterKeymasterOh ok detn8r. I think I might give it a shot then. My curiosity is getting to me now. What is msi by the way? I’m not too computer savy. No way to turn that into an exe I suppose. I don’t want to download something that’ll take me an hour (dialup) only to not have it able to open.
October 3, 2004 at 4:37 pm #71087shifterMember.msi is just a Windows Installer Package, it works just like an exe. And unless your running Mac or Unix, it will open fine.
October 4, 2004 at 1:57 am #71089IceMemberok I noticed that MSN 7 doesnt have an option to remove the tabs (maybe I’m just blind) if anyone figures out how to turn off the tabs please post please? thanks

-Open all the sections consisting out of a number combination.
-Select the DWORD DisableTabs (if not present, create it)
-Change its value to 1
-Repeat this step at all number combinations

October 4, 2004 at 5:30 am #71090IceMemberThnx detn8r.
I only had to do it once and it removed them all. Looks so much better now. Thanks again. 🙂
October 5, 2004 at 12:03 am #71084ladie_vennomMemberUpdate from Neowin:
Quote:quote:As MSN Messenger 7 goes into private beta, Neowin has learned of several exploits resulting in the “winks” feature of MSN Messenger 7. A Neowin member wishing to remain anonymous has alerted us that users can generate their own flash movies and send them across MSN Messenger. As flash movies can open other things on the system such as Internet Explorer, this could be fatal. As MSN Messenger 7 is only beta and isn’t available publically this isn’t a major exploit but it does show that added features to a product like this makes it less secure and more open to attack/exploit.MSN Messenger 7 is beta and is available in copies floating around the internet. We strongly advise members not to use the current beta until this flaw has been resolved. MSN Messenger 7 effectively opens your system up to allow a hacker to run numerous tasks on your machine.
We ask members not to post any exploit code or how to exploit MSN Messenger 7, thank you.

Oddly it’s doing the same thing to me as well. It’s not a global thing as others seemed to have been able t update their flash accordingly… but others like you and I can’t seem to be accepted.
