MemberAdu was in the european news today. Looks like journalists here are not that blinded with him, as they are in USA. They showed a little review, and to me, they are right, there have been a lot of early-stars in soccer, and not even half of them actually turned out to do what was expected from them when they get older.
Comparing him with Pele is an aberration. Need to remember, Adu never won any title so far (and he could have, for example junior wold cups, sub 17 world cups, sub 14 world cups), whereas lots of european and brazilian players have.
Normally when they get too much attention at that age, they turn out to be spoiled by media and end up being just average as adult players.
Anyway, there is not genius skills proven so far, other than he is good for his age, we will see if he developes to be very good, he isn´t so far. Being good for your age in nothing, you need to be better than other players that are competing with you at this moment, and that is not the case when you compare him with grown up stars.
My experience tells me, it is better to leave these kids alone, play in minor leagues untill they trully develope their skills and then, when they do have a character, pull them up to main leagues and teams, he is a potential, not yet a reality.
I said. Hehehe.

MemberWell there haven’t been any ‘genius’ skills showed so far probably because there haven’t been any real opprtunities. Also he just started so there could be more to him than what we see so far.
And about being good for his age, yes he is but don’t you think to be on a professional team you would have to be more than ‘good for your age’? I don’t think the team owners would waste 2 mil on a guy that’s just good for his age. I say give him a chance to prove he is good enough to be in the pros.April 6, 2004 at 10:04 pm #86822sciencefeeling

MemberFor those wondering…Oporto won the Champions League last night.
The last month was hard for Real Madrid, and fun to watch for us Barcelona Supporters, hehehe, they made 3 points of 18, wow, and dropped from 1st with 9 points advantage to FOURTH and praying for the season to end.
Valencia, won the Spanish League along with the UEFA Cup, and Barcelona finished Second in the spanish league what gives them access to 2005 Champions League without the need to paly previous rounds.Ok, now let´s focus on Tennis…because the summer ATP tournaments already started…are you guys up for a change in the topic? now that soccer eurpean season ended?

MemberIn the premiership, Arsenal came first and were unbeaten all season. 🙁
Second place went to Chelsea, United were third and Liverpool fourth. United’s third place spot means they have to qualify for the champions league next season.United won the F.A. cup 3-0 in the final. At least we got some silverware this season….
Porto won… damm, if the referee wasn’t blind during our game, then they wouldn’t even be in the tournament. 😉
Barcelona are in the champions league? You never know, we might see Barcelona Vs United next season, sciencefeeling.
You could change the topic to tennis, or we could start talking about Euro 2004. 😀
EDIT
Thought id post this NIKE advert to get us in the mood for Euro 2004. I dont know if this advert has been shown outside the UK, so here it is, on the Nike football site[Edit 2] damm it doesnt allow direct linking. The advert is in the English Uk part of the site. Select watch the add and the 90 second edit.
The 90 second edit is by far the best. The advert basically involves the Portugal and Brazilian national teams trying to “out-trick” each other, and also has guest appearances from Eric Cantona and Ruud Van Nistelrooy. Watch it to see some Amazing tricks. 😀
