Look at your yahoo version (help>about yahoo messenger). If its 1250 the problem isn’t with your computer. Its with messenger. The voice is dead in the latest version and you need to uninstall it and re-install the previous version.
They won’t click on it. The way it would presumably work, is that they see your status message and to get the picture, they message you and ask for the picture. They won’t see the status IF you aren’t on their list.
Sometimes when this happens, what you need to do is press refresh a couple of times
or shift + refresh (or alt+refresh. can’t remember exactly which one) which forces the browser to upload a new version of the page. But if you have tried this and it doesn’t work, then I’m all out of ideas and you have to rely on a more computer savy memberThanks all. The yahoo download link did work thank goodness and i can hear chatroom conversations again. damn technological advancement 🙂
Well that was then… This is now, after uninstalls, restarts, yahoo! help chatrooms
and fiddling with sounds/mic/speakers on computer… Also settings. No amount of
enchantment will survive this. I just hope I didn’t lure unsuspecting people into installing
the new version.Urgh!!! No! The voice doesn’t work. I don’t know about the rest of the functions because I’ve spent the last 3 hours trying to figure out what the problem with sound was in chatrooms and then realised the problem wasn’t with MY computer. It was with yahoo! Don’t bother updating it till they fix the damn thing.
I don’t understand! Why release something when you aren’t sure it’s working properly??
I think if you set your privacy option on “ignore anyone who isn’t on my friends
list” people won’t be able to add you.Or you can change your ID.

I finally though “what the heck! Lets just do this” turned off y!tunnel and joined several
chatrooms. I didn’t get booted in the 30 minutes i was there. NOw, i don’t know whether this new yahoo! version actually works *shock* or i was just lucky. But then, we all know that even if it does work and they have fixed the chatroom boots, there are plenty of losers out there who will just come up with new boot codes.Anyone else tried it?
Here is what you do to find out EXACTLY who has you on their list.
Put an away message with something like “scanning new pictures. Message me
to see them!”. TO make it even more effective, put the words “nude” “sexy” “amazing”
or all three of them together. I am positive within minutes you find out who has
you on their list!I installed it. I see absoloutely no difference as yet, but we have to wait
and see. I have heard though that yahoo was trying to fix the chatroom boots
with the new version. I just have to turn off y!tunnel and brave the rooms
to see if it actually does work.yeah it sucks but setting your computer clock back works pretty well. I think
the problem is that after using Y!Tunnel we have become too spoilt with the no-boot
experience. I had yahoo messenger for a year before i got y!tunnel and sure the boots
were annoying but I didn’t really think about it much. Now, I can’t join a chatroom without y!tunnel… The only problem this causes though, is that for some weird reason,
my message archives creates two logs for each conversation. One, with my computer’s date consisting ONLY of my lines, the other, the person i am talking to, with correct date, with only THEIR lines! Anyone else has noticed anything similar?Also, if you have never downloaded file from such a person, is there anyway
they can get to the files on your computer? Some backdoor access through
messenger?I don’t think you can. When you delete them, you get a warning message that they will be deleted permanently.
