I like LimeChat the best. In my opinion, it's really the only option for people who care about the interface of the application.
I've got another vote for the Linksys WRT54G! It was a little difficult to set up, because I found you had to use the cables they gave you, in the order they gave you, because one was a tiny bit bigger than the other, and it kept getting stuck. Perhaps it was just a problem with the one I set up, but once it was set up it works great.
It worked fine with my PSP and with my laptop, and it would also work with the Wii. Really, almost any router will work, but your best bet is to go with something reliable and well known like the Linksys WRT54G.

Well, are you sure that it was not like this previously and you just forgot to change it?
Another possibility could be that someone changed it [perhaps by mistake] if you have your password saved on the login screen.
I don't think it was hacked, as that is a difficult thing to do and does not happen as often as you may think.Clint
You will need to go to Tools –> Options –> Messages, and then towards the bottom is “Message History.” Make a checkmark in both boxes, and then the messages will show in the window next time you chat!

Are you still having this problem? If so, are you able to connect with Windows Messenger, Windows Live Messenger, or another version of MSN Messenger?

I have changed the screennames to things before, like one time I changed it to \, and no problems occurred. AIM hacking isn't hard, it just takes time.
A helpful resource is over at WinT's mods and even though it doesnt mention 5.5, check the comments, google a little bit, and you can find the correct offsets.
Post back with your results, and a screenshot if you get a lot done ;]

If you really need to do this, you could create each section in a different post, and then you can just have a link that goes down the page to that post.
It isn't the best way, I know, because it isn't as easy and also bumps your postcount more, but it works.Clint
Forgive me if I repeat something, I haven't had the time to read the whole topic yet.
I think that tutorials would be a great addition, as well as an updated staff list with some explanations about the different staff groups.About the introductions, I do not think that fill-in-the-blank boxes would be such a great idea, because then you would lose the personal feeling of an introduction. Perhaps a sticky topic with some guidelines and a few friendly reminders of not using too much colors, bolds, and other related things. I think that the fill-in-the-blanks would make the forums seem less exciting, and more of a professional feeling, but almost too professional that people would not want to visit that often.
Since this is an IM forum, you most likely get a lot of users that use instant messaging a lot, and have never been on a forum before. I think that tutorials would help, and at least a sticky topic explaining a few things. I know that when I first joined a forum, I had a hard time getting around. In most cases, you can tell if the user has ever been on a forum before by the way they type, the font, colors, and text styles they use. If that is the case, perhaps you should be a little more lenient on topics in the wrong area, because they may be unfamiliar with the whole “forum” theme. I am not saying that they should get to do whatever they want, but if you do notice that they do not follow suit and keep on using colors, bolds, etetera, a private message might help, give them a reminder of the rules, and an overview of forum etiquette.
I am unfamiliar with the reputation system, as I am primarily a user of invision based forums, but I think I can figure it out. As Tea Granny said, change is a scary thing, at least to some people. Personally, I welcome change, as I think of it as a challenge, and an opportunity to learn something new.
One more not-so-great idea would be to make a topic (perhaps in the staff forums) with some staff reminders for when you are welcoming new users. I know that as a moderator your view of other users changes a lot, and sometimes you can forget that when you say things to a new user, like if they bring up an old thread, or make a topic that has been brought up a few times already, that they can become uncomfortable. The worst thing that you want to happen is for a new member to feel uncomfortable, as they may not contribute to topics as much as they would like to, in fear of getting told that they had done something wrong. Although the staff member may not mean for it to come out in a rough way, it happens to the best of us.

Yeah, PHP is not the same as JavaScript… Wait… nevermind, I just figured it out.. like using AJAX to get returned information from the PHP page.

That doesn't seem like it would be possible. AJAX uses XMLHttpRequest, and IRC is a totally different protocol. I know that flash is possible, and it would be very easy, too. ICQ has a flash webchat for IRC, and maybe someone could use an SWF decompiler, and make it more.. BBBish. That doesn't seem very likely to happen, but I think it is worth being mentioned.

Welcome, Phil! Remember that you can always post if you have IM troubles! The edit button does become handy, especially for people like me who can't seem to type.. but that is besides the point. You have something to look forward to, too! 🙂 When you get to 10 posts, then you get to play some games in the arcade.
