It seems the Tiger is coming out on top of this poll …. the infamy!
The tiger’s skull is a fragile thing, which will quickly be shattered on encounter with a bears mighty fist, or the hippo’s ponderous hoof. On abandoning it’s stealthy approach it will be quickly quashed by any opponent. And I’m pretty sure a polar bear could outrun a hippo
The snake I can see more of an arguement for, but I argue upon attack it would quickly be crushed to death, so would lose it’s life in any potential victory, which I would say is no true victory at all!
Hey to everybody who remembers me, but it seems the forum has changed drastically in my absence, I’m off to create a topic for you all to fill me in
Crazy PenguinMemberFrom the very little I’ve read about the matter it’s a load of rubbish, as far as I know no-one has been able to replicate the results of Mr Emoto, and his work hasn’t been peer-reviewed or been published by a respectable journal. Plus his proposals sound like utter garbage…
However I could be wrong, it was an article I read long time ago…
Interestingly another project by Mr Emot discovered that donating lots of money to penguins dramatically increased your lifespan and overall well being.
Crazy PenguinMemberOk my personal advice is to get both, but seeing as you want to choose one i’ll do my best to help:
I’ve not played AOE3, only the demo so I can’t tell you much about it, play the demo and see what you think… http://www.ageofempires3.com/ for the demo.
Civ 4 I have played… in fact i’m currently obsessed with it, it’s a lot like the other civ games, but then all the other civ games have been great so thats no bad thing, and its added some nice new features which really improve gameplay.
Civ 4 is a turn based system like you said, and is very different from any RTS games, if you want to play multiplayer games your probabbly bvest off getting an RTS as from my small experience of civ 4 games online, theres quite a bit of time spent waiting for other people, it’s essentially a single player game, but its a very very good very addictive single player game.
The civ 4 gameplay wise is, you take a turn, move your units, choose what to build in your citys, choose a technology to research and generally dictate what your “civilisation” is doing, as the game progresses you become more advanced, build more citys, encounter other civilisations, build up your civs armies and expand with the ultimate aim of achieving victory by conquering other civs, sending a spaceship to a new planet, being elected to be the head of the UN, beocming the msot powerful civilisation or various other victory conditions, on the way trading, fighting and interacting with the other civilisations from the year 4000BC to 2100 (i think).
That really doenst do the game justice, suffice to say i’ve stayed up all night playing “just one more turn”, (eventually ending up being several hundred turns), it’s a very addictive, evyr enjoyable single player game.
Hope thats helped
Crazy PenguinMemberWell the demo has been downloaded, and hell it looks great, theres a few great new features and the gameplays pretty fun.
Unfortunatly i’ve had a few BSOD when alt tabing and exiting the game… not quite sure why, hoepfully stability will be fixed later.
Crazy PenguinMemberFor anyone interested in this game, the demo has been released, in the process of downloading it now… looks very good…
Tis a hefty download though, about 375MB.
http://www.ageofempires3.com is one source but i’m sur eyou’ll be able to find others, most of them probably quicker….
Crazy PenguinMemberI’m thrilled that england have finally won the ashes, and in such exciting cricket, there’s been such greta cricket in nearly every match of the series… and theres never been a dull moment (except maybe towards the end of the last test).
And I have to say… Warne was amazing, he nearly won the series for the Aussies on his own, and more than made up for any deficiencies of the other players who didn’t perform to there best.
Crazy PenguinMemberYeah i’ve not updated my list of BBB blogs for a while… sorry about that…
I’ll get it done.
Crazy PenguinMemberWell from my newest claculations on the price of petrol over here in the UK, I can tell you that petrol is currently (well on Friday when i last saw the price of petrol) on average costing about $6.47 a gallon, and speculation in the papers suggests that by Monday it is expected that the price will rise so that it will cost about $7 a gallon, whether that’s going to happen I don’t know…
it’s times like this when I’m glad I don’t have a car.
Crazy PenguinMemberCongratulations Rk and sarah, i’m sure you’ll make excellent advisors!
And hope to see you still hanging around det, BBB won’t be the same without you.
Crazy PenguinMemberCongrats!
Crazy PenguinMemberWell I read it a while ago, but seeing as ive just got back from holiday i’ve not had chance to post… anyway I thought it was fairly good, much better than the traversty which was book 5, and much more tightly plotted…
Crazy PenguinMemberI think you are all missing the point…
The reason we aren’t happy about London winning the bid is because we are Northerners, and they are soft Southern pansies who get all the government money… and we’re bitter about that… cos we don’t like London getting money while the North is neglected, tis a Northern thing.
WITH THAT said, your cities and country have basically taken a loan out to improve your surroundings. My opinion is, you should enjoy it.
Yah London will… as London gets the majority of major events, and we don’t like that, it may seem odd that we up in the North don’t like money being spent in a city which is realitivly close to us (in american and canadian terms), but it’s always been the case…
And I don’t know about David Beckham paying taxes, but seeing as he lives most of the time in Spain he won’t have to pay much tax over here.
*pokes Lucifina back*
Long time no see lucifina, glad your back!
And I would go on and say about hwo the olympics and huminanitarain aid are very different, but since you aren’t going there I won’t either.
Crazy PenguinMemberI have to say… though I live in England I also don’t support the London bid… It really gets annoying when yet more money gets spent on transport and sporting facilities in London and neglect the rest of the country… I’m really not happy on having the government spend loads of money to improve the London public transport system “for the olympics”, whilst the government cuts funding for the tram system here in Manchester…. that’s my tax money goddamnit!
But maybe I’m just Northern and bitter.
However that said…. I really don’t think I could have stomached the French winning the olympic bid after Mr Chirac’s insult fest… so the only positive aspect I have from the whole buisness is that the French didn’t win…
Crazy PenguinMemberWell I can assure you that Red Alert 2 works fine with XP, so you needn’t worry on that score. I’m not sure how active the multiplayer aspect is these days however, but you will probably be able to find some people still playing it.
Age of Mythology has a fanatsy/mythological theme to it… but I never really liked it…
However I have to agree with martin in that the age of empires series is amazingly good.
You might want to have a look for demo’s of said games to see which you like best… i know age of empires 2 had an excellent demo which let you explore lots of features… and i think play online, ableit in a limited form.
Crazy PenguinMemberThe classic’s are obviously the Warcraft/Starcraft and Command and Conquer Series… you can’t really go wrong with most of those titles.
The Age of Empires series is also up there.
The best fairly recently released titles are probably Warcraft 3 and Command and Conquer: Generals… and for older games you can’t go wrong with Age of Empires 2.
That said Age of Empires 3 is coming out at the end of summer and that will probably be the king of online games for a while…
Rome: Total War and it’s prequels are also good, though Rome isn’t very good online.
@ Querty Do you mean rise of nations? empire earth?
