MemberGod doesn’t create homosexuals
Really? How do you know? God created everything according to the bible, which would imply that homosexuality is all part of his divine plan would it not?
In the Bible homosexuality is a sin.
This really annoys me, yes the bible mentions a couple of times that “sodomy” is not a good thing, but by my reading these mentions all appear in sections of the bible which most people discount in their entirety, ie the old testament. Now I can understand a jewish person using the bible as support for anti-homosexuality, even if i don’t agree with them, but a Christian?
Let’s see the majority of christains flout nearly all the rules set out in the old testament, they eat non-kosher food, and generally ignore a whole set of prohibiions set out in the OT, which coincidenatlly generally occur almost next to prohibitions on homosexuality, which are wholeheartedly embraced, by many Christians, as it supports there views… now to me that shouts HYPOCRISY.
Then lets look at the New Testament, which is the main text for Christainity, look at all the times Jesus teaches love and acceptance of others, claims those who are ill such as lepers are not sinful… and tell me whether the message of the bible is to condemn homosexuality as a sin or to accept that homosexuality is just one of those things, that some people are, and some people aren’t.
So before you go around saying that the bible says homosexuality is a sin, follow the rest of the teachings in the bible.
I don’t think it is genetic at all. It’s a choice and a lifestyle.
So your up to date wih the latest scientific developments on homosexuality? You have an indepth understanding of the thoughts of homosexuals?
If you were unaware of the latest scientific studies on homosexuality, there is increasing evidence pointing to the fact that homosexuality is linked to genetics, and those who have certain genes are more likely to be homosexual. Indeed most of the studies i’ve heard of suggest that homosexuality is linked to genes in some way.
i agree with you 100% its a choice you decide when you are young, either because you just fit in better as friends with people of the opposite sex which inturn made you like same sex, or you were shunned(or whatever the word im looking for is) by the opposite sex and they didnt like you so you changed and starting dating someone who would accept you
And you know this how?
One of my best friends is gay, he is a devout catholic, perhaps the most devout I have ever met, and believes homosexuality to be wrong… yet he is still gay. Now if he had a choice about whether he was homosexual or not, i know for sure that he would choose to not be homosexual, but he can’t help the fact that he is homosexual.. now to me that suggests that there is no “choice” about whether being homosexual or not, it’s just something that happens.

MemberAh some good meaty topics of discussion:
1. War being just is a difficult one… i believe a war can be just if for example you are defending your country or another from attack by another, like events in the second world war when hitler invaded other countries. War may be just when you are fighting for better rights, freedom etc… other than that i don;t think it can be just, and most wars can be avoided by words, but some can only be prevented by force.
2. For abortion, i’m in favour of it until 9 weeks at the moment, since there’s such a high chance of spontaneous abortion anyway at this point, after that it becomes an iffy subject, a child can certainly feel pain at some level after 12 or so weeks so i can’t really justify abortion after that point…
However as soon as we reach the point where a fetus which is to be aborted can be kept alive by technological means, aborting the fetus is effectively murder, so in years to come i think the age when abortion is alllowable will get smaller and smaller.
I’d prefer however for abortion to be something which isn’t seen as an easy option, and that effective contraception becomes a more accepted part of society so the situation doesn’t arise.
3. Culling animals, personally i’m happy killing animals to eat but i think that it should eb doen in a humane a way as possible, especially since na animal will generally taste worse if it is frightened when it dies.
Killing those animals who have the intelligence of a child well i don’t really agree with that, as i wouldnt want to be eaten by aliens with vast intellects…
Oh and i would eat a human if i was hungry, there was no other food nearby and there was a dead body, if only to survive, but i wouldn’t kill a human to eat…
4. Homosexuality, i’m fine with, theres definitly a genetic component to it, and may in some ways be influenced by choice but i see it as a valid life choice.
What really bugs me though is christians who use the bible to justify homosexuality being wrong, theres only 7 brief references to homosexuality in the bible, all in the old testament, Jesus preaches acceptance and love for all, and most chirstians disregard large portions of the old testament… but accept the bits which are anti-homosexual as it supports there predjudices. That really bugs me.

We beat France and Germany… thats all that matters… we are saved from the embarassment of nul points from the awful gemini last year!
Anyone else notice an absense of countries this year? Italy, Portugal, Ireland, Luxembourg, Belgium, and Holland, that’s most of western europe!
I always find the eurovision song contest amusing…. especially the voting… for example how you can nearly always predict who the countries are going to vote for by seeing who there neighbours are!
Another curious fact is that the countries who as far as i’m aware contribute the most to the contest, France, the UK, Germany and Spain… came last…
And my lovely horse was a work of genius oreo!

MemberWell… I didn’t like it, personally I thought the dialogue, acting and plotting were all horrendous, and to be honest the action scenes weren’t great, though they were the best feature of the film.
Possibly you have to have watched the other films to appreciate it, but if that’s the best of the entire series I shudder to think what the rest are like…

MemberThe price of petrol is going down all over the world despite the increasing oil prices? i doubt it.
Oh and that $5.83 is a conservative estimate from a rough guess at what the price was, looking at the price of the most expensive petrol the other day it works out at just over $6.00.
I was shocked in america last time i visited when i heard someone complain about how expenisve the petrol was, its ridiculously cheap over there.
Crazy Penguin
MemberOk by my initial calculations, at the current exchange rate, the price of one gallon of petrol here in england works out to a grand total of:
*drumroll*
$5.83
So if I here anyone here complaining about expensive petrol in the US… I shall shoot them.
