Actually I could find the XP edition in a much lower price. After all I have 110 GB, why would I need another harddrive? lol
DeadeyeMemberMy computer is brand new. 512 MB RAM 2.8 MHz. One more reason i’m thinking about the upgrade is the MSN bugs on audio chat that seem to appear mostly on Win98 or ME. Thanks for the info on the DOS emulators David but I have no clue of what is a 9x system.
So does this make me a complete fool for using Win98 for the past year? lolDeadeyeMemberJoin the club…
give us more info about your status though (internet connection, windows etc etc) and try to describe the problem in detail.DeadeyeMemberi think there is already a topic for slow messages and such
but could you answer my question?
does MSN 4,7 allow audio?DeadeyeMemberI’m dealing with the same problem as you except from the last part of the ”activating context error”. As instructed I obtained the good version of the rtcdll.dll file which was supposed to be faulty but the problem persists.I’m running under win98 msn6.1 and messenger plus3.
The problem could be desrcibed as: When you try to add audio in a conversation the connecting period takes forever and eventually ends with the error message ”the computer or network you’re trying to connect with is facing a problem, please try again later” or something similar to that. But catch this: after I replaced the faulty rtcdll.dll file with the good version (4.0) I tried to add audio again. As I expected it failed (i restarted my computer just in case) but the other user with whom I was trying to connect with told me that in his MSN window the connection was done within 4 seconds and when I would talk he could hear me even though on my MSN window I was still being connected. I wouldnt complain about it but thing is that I cant hear the other person and the ”connecting process” in which I can be heard but not hear lasts less than 15 seconds.
If these were enough clues to someone please let me know.
By the way swede, audio chats work on MSN 4,7? I tried MSN 5 but failed.DeadeyeMemberThank you
I was just wondering if it was a mail from one of my contacts that ended up like that for some reason.
If its spam then they can go to hell for all I care. 🙂DeadeyeMemberi hope this is in the right forum

DeadeyeMemberi’m talking about audio conversations with a microphone, not event sounds, those work just fine
DeadeyeMemberusual problem with MSN, assuming that you have MSN 6
there’s a 7 page thread about this, yet I havent managed to solve the problem so i’m formatting my computer and downloading MSN 5 that supports audio with no bugsDeadeyeMemberSysAI is a hidden folder in the programm files
it contains files about an ”apropos” programm, I couldnt find the missing file in the MSCONFIG startup tab so I double clicked the uninstall icon in the SysAI file, I hope apropos is nothing vital right?DeadeyeMemberdoes the problem with the audio conversations appear in the MSN 6.2v aswel?
