MemberExactly.
Some people are not willing to give others a chance.
This has come around because so many people now can just look professional and good, anyone can register a domain and get cheap hosting, but can they produce a website like this for example?
Visual Basic has enabled just about anyone to produce programs with barely any code! There are so many “programmers” out there now, that those who are more than just a programmer, who actually know what they are doing, why and how, are often being singled out as producing rubbish, or worse, producing dangerous stuff, in order for those other new programmers to try get their programs out there.
I try and give any program a chance. I just wrote a long page about a program called y!voice because the idiots immediately jumped it as being bad ( http://www.freddys-utilities.co.uk/yvoice.htm ). A few months ago, I did EXACTLY the same thing for Y!Tunnel, and it was the same people as on that page who tried to make Y!Tunnel fail. Looking today at Y!Tunnel’s success, its clear who was right, and who was wrong, those that where wrong, are wrong again. In that instance, the haters are a group of people who are trying to maintain a website that offers less than adequate information and advice to problems, I can see the only reason for their hatred is to try and keep the attention of users who might go off and try something else for a change.
I myself don’t even use Yahoo! Messenger, I use YahELite, but should I use Yahoo! Messenger, I would have no problems with using Y!Tunnel, although I wish it had been kept 100% free.

Membergaz, you are right! Someone who thinks the same as me. A user sat at home on his/her PC is not really worth hacking. You don’t get no credit, you’re unlikely to get much bandwidth to perform any DoS attacks. These rumours are dreamt up by those who are directly affected, i.e. those who are about to lose out, being the booters and anyone who feels that a new program will draw attention away from them.

MemberWhen Y!Tunnel was first appearing, too many people decided it was dangerous, i.e. a trojan. The reason was the misunderstanding of the term “proxy” which I contacted chet about, told him he might make it more cleared.
The people who I talked to presumed there was a central proxy server which Y!Tunnel went through, instead of actually realising, y!tunnel was the proxy on your pc, filtering out rubbish! If it was on a server somewhere, of course it could be dangerous.
Secondly, Y!Tunnel only ever sees the encrypted/hashed password that Yahoo! sends it, which is random each time you logon.
Thridly, I decided to open up a packet sniffer and monitor it for a few hours to see if there was any inappropriate connections on other ports to other servers. I found nothing.
As for the legalities, it and all 3rd party software is against the Yahoo! TOS. It means no ad revenue for a start. This doesn’t stop most of us using third party clients though, or ad blockers etc… If Yahoo! cared more, they could block clients by employing different techniques, but they don’t or haven;t.
As it acts as a proxy, it does require ports to act as servers, I once wrote a similar program to fix YahELite, the only way was to write a small proxy to re arrange the packets so yahelite would still function, I made it so it only accepts ONE connection, from 127.0.0.1, which is your own PC. I don’t know if Y!Tunnel acts in the same way.
You can decompile all programs into assembly if you wished. Would like to see you make sense of it though in less than a month :p (hehe)
Nhyrvana?
-Yahoo! Messenger doesn’t use richedit to output chat – uses a IE HTML interface.
-And he never said he was MS certified, he said he was a comp student – and like me, comp students probably dont take a module in richedit
-And you used exactly the same test on me 2/3 years ago. You should come up with a new one, and stop testing people anyway, just ’cause they don’t know that, doesn’t mean they can’t help. You only know this from hands on experience, do you know how 32 bit memory addressing works? Do you know the difference between hex, binary, octal, bits, bytes, nibbles,OR,XOR,C,C#,C++,Java,Pascal,Virtual Machine,Virtual Memory. Probably not, but does this make you less of a useful person?freddy
MemberI also recently put together this page:
http://www.freddys-utilities.co.uk/emotionshare/
It allows you to upload emotion sets you have created, and download the ones others have put there. You don’t have to upload to download, and full instructions are provided. It is of course Free!
For the cool pictures, you probably mean wingdings/webdings, instructions and a nice little java script form here:
http://www.freddys-utilities.co.uk/wingdings.php
Don’t be fooled by the URL, neither of those pages contain programs to download, just help and emote.dat files:)

MemberSounds like a Yahoo! Problem.
If the error was in Y!Tunnel or your Firewall you would get the errors from those programs, unless Y!Tunnel was sending bad code that Yahoo! didn’t expect, although this is unlikely.
Yahoo! Messenger has some pretty bad code underneath from what it appears by using it, the mildest of things crash it. One of the main problems is their choice of interface for chat, it requires a lot of code to take features out, not put them in, which is why boot codes (the type that causes illegal op) work on messenger and not in other clients.
The beta is very strange. I have been using it today, and it appears to have gone crazy. It crashed XP again. It always crashes on exit, and it appears to be , for some reason, continually polling (checking) for something, because the screen flashes as though its being re painted every millisecond.

Memberif you don’t have messenger installed, it wont appear as a link, but it will to those who do have messenger installed.
freddy@freddys-utilities.co.uk is my email address.
freddy
MemberOK, you must have messenger installed for the ymsgr one to be a link, it registers on your computer a new protocol and association, so it acts just like a link.
I just put together this basic test page for you to see:
http://www.freddys-utilities.co.uk/roomtest.html
Look at the source code to see how it’s achieved. Hope you understand it. If not, show me the page where you are trying to do it and I will tell you where it has gone wrong.
“Nhyrvana”‘s option above requires you already be logged into yahoo! and the YOUR NAME to be edited to the person currently logged in on a machine, you would need to implement that with javascript to replace the name variable, but it does lose the ads.

MemberIf you or your buddies are using the yahoo! messenger, you can use the ymsgr protocol links and add the following link to your webpages:
Code:When a user clicks that, their messenger will launch if not already open, and if it is open, it will take them direct to that room.
If not messenger, or as an alternative, provide this link:
Code:That will take them to the login page, and then take them to that room. (if they are logged on, it wont need a login).
Hope this helped!

MemberThis is interesting, I have seen saha_m post this in another forum a while back, asking about if some features could be achieved, which I correctly answered they could not be.
Searching for online users was taken out a long time ago, and there is no way to search for users broadcasting cam, in voice etc…
You can only use the member directory (for members who chose to be listed) to search on a few criterian.
The only way this could be achieved is for a bot to go room by room keeping a track of each user, which would be banned instantly by Yahoo! and is a breach of everyone’s privacy.
These features are only useful for direct spamming, or other abuse.
