MemberAlright..here goes.
There are a couple of ways to go about doing this…,
First way is probably the easiest way..but you have to be good with social engineering unless the person wants you to know their IP… anyway, all you have to do for this method is convince them/ask them to type (!IP) in their conversation window and press enter or click send. The only downside with that is that your contact HAS TO HAVE Messenger Plus!
Secondly, with the new MSN Messenger 6x series, it is now possible to acquire a persons’ IP address by just asking them to download a file this is courtesy of the new mini-file-preview feature of the MSN Messenger 6x series. It allows you to acquire their IP address, because you’re making a connection to them just by sending them the preview which MSN Messenger 6x automatically does when you send someone a file.
This urr..feature? also applies to custom emoticons. Custom emoticons are sent to your contact, which in turn opens up a connection to their computer, thus making it possible to acquire their IP just by sending them a custom emoticon. Not sending them like file-sending, but sending them by just using the custom emoticon in a conversation.
Read this — Note it’s a word document, but I’ve opened it many times..and I trust the authour. If you don’t, then don’t open it :).
Last, you can send someone a file, once the transfer has initiated you can use netstat.
Once a transfer is initiated, go to your start menu –> run and type
netstat -nonce you’ve done that a dos prompt should pop up that shows you a list of your current active connections. (However this may cause a dos prompt to popup and then disappears, if that is so, open a dos prompt first, then execute the command in there.)
For more information about netstat and a list of parameters take a look at here

MemberIn the past your old .NET passport would be given to the new owner of your old adress. At present I’m not sure if this bug is fixed or not, but also in the past you could close your account, wait a month or so, and then reopen it and the account was still in tact and fine. I’ve also gotten a friend to register my old .NET passport after I had closed it for a month and he had acquired my MSN Messenger contact list. Which was a huge security risk for me, as I had a lot of top-level MSN Messenger community individuals. Mostly Mess.be Admin emails which in turn caused my friend to add one of the emails and spoke to a Mess.Be Admin (won’t say who…) which in turn got me into trouble with that Admin…
To make a long story short. In the past there were bugs. At present I’m not sure if the bug has been fixed or not…luckily my friend was nice enough to give my my account back and since then I haven’t closed any of my accounts. Of if I do I clear the list completely.
As for your last question, in the past it did. Once again I’m not sure if it will or will not now.

MemberAs far as I know it isn’t possible, for if it were it would probably be in Mess.be’s FAQ and I haven’t heard of such a trick/tweak to make AvantBrowser open the links you click on in MSN Messenger. Sorry.

MemberSorry to correct you Brian but…
You can do so by editing the clsid via RegEdit.
* CONTINUE ONLY IF YOU ARE COMFORTABLE WITH EDITING THE REGISTRY AND YOU SHOULD ALSO KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING. *
* BY FOLLOWING MY ADVICE BELOW, YOU AGREE NOT TO HOLD BIGBLUEBALL, THEIR CORRESPONDANTS, MEMBERS AND MYSELF LIABLE FOR ANY REASON WHATSOEVER, BUT NOT LIMITED TO. *HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftInternet ExplorerExtensions
look through the files in there and edit the one with MSN Messenger in it or Windows Messenger in it accordingly.
Example:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftInternet ExplorerExtensions{FB5F1910-F110-11d2-BB9E-00C04F795683} has these settings on my computer:
“CLSID”=”{1FBA04EE-3024-11D2-8F1F-0000F87ABD16}”
“Exec”=”C:\Program Files\Messenger\MSMSGS.EXE”
“Default Visible”=”Yes”
“HotIcon”=”C:\Program Files\Messenger\MSMSGS.EXE,302”
“Icon”=”C:\Program Files\Messenger\MSMSGS.EXE,301”
“ButtonText”=”Messenger”
“MenuText”=”Windows Messenger”
“ToolTip”=”Windows Messenger”If you change it from the above example to:
“CLSID”=”{1FBA04EE-3024-11D2-8F1F-0000F87ABD16}”
“Exec”=”C:Program FilesMSN MessengerMSNMSGR.EXE”
“Default Visible”=”Yes”
“HotIcon”=”C:\Program Files\Messenger\MSMSGS.EXE,302”
“Icon”=”C:\Program Files\Messenger\MSMSGS.EXE,301”
“ButtonText”=”MSN Messenger”
“MenuText”=”MSN Messenger”
“ToolTip”=”MSN Messenger”you’d have an invisible button on the IE toolbar that launches MSN Messenger. The reason why it is invisible is because images: 301 and 302 are non-existent.
* BY FOLLOWING MY ADVICE ABOVE, YOU HAVE AGREED NOT TO HOLD BIGBLUEBALL, THEIR CORRESPONDANTS, MEMBERS AND MYSELF LIABLE FOR ANY REASON WHATSOEVER, BUT NOT LIMITED TO. *

MemberGreetings,
Following are instructions on how to remove the Messenger Plus! OPTIONAL sponsor:
Removing the OPTIONAL sponsor program bundled with Messenger Plus!
Quote:quote:*** NOTE: DO NOT USE AD-AWARE OR SPYBOT TO REMOVE THE SPONSOR, DO NOT TRY TO REMOVE THE SPONSOR PACKAGE BY YOURSELF, AND/OR DO NOT EDIT THE REGISTRY TO REMOVE THE SPONSOR PACKAGE THIS WILL DAMAGE THE SPONSOR PACKAGE AND MAY PREVENT YOU FROM REMOVING IT CORRECTLY. ***The only official removal method is by uninstalling Messenger Plus! To do so, go to your Start menu, settings, control panel. Click on Add/Remove Programs, scroll down until you find Messenger Plus!, double click it.
The “Messenger Plus! – Setup” is now displayed. Click on the Uninstall button. After a couple of seconds, the program will ask you if you want to keep your preferences, it is suggested to say “Yes” if you plan to reinstall Messenger Plus! in the future (this question is not related to the sponsor program).
After that the sponsor removal screen is now displayed (Note: If you can’t see it, search for it in your taskbar). As a security measure against bots, you are required to enter the code that is shown on the sponsor removal screen. If you entered the code correctly, the program will ask you to confirm that you want to uninstall. You must answer “Yes” to this question, else, you won’t have another chance of uninstalling.
To complete the uninstallation, follow the instructions that are displayed (the first one is to close all your Internet Explorer windows, that’s very important). When everything is complete, restart your computer. This should work, we’ve tried it loads of times and Messenger Plus!’s testers are required to test out the sponsor installation/uninstllation capabilities.
Reboot.
*** NOTE: DO NOT USE AD-AWARE OR SPYBOT TO REMOVE THE SPONSOR, DO NOT TRY TO REMOVE THE SPONSOR PACKAGE BY YOURSELF, AND/OR DO NOT EDIT THE REGISTRY TO REMOVE THE SPONSOR PACKAGE THIS WILL DAMAGE THE SPONSOR PACKAGE AND MAY PREVENT YOU FROM REMOVING IT CORRECTLY. ***
Method 2: Removing the sponsor if you’ve attempted to manually remove it

Now that I’ve gotten that out of the way..
Patchou decided to bundle an EXTREMELY modified lop.com sponsor with Messenger Plus! Note, I said EXTREMELY modified. Patchou vigorously negotiated with lop.com to remove the “explicit” content in their sponsor (although some anti-virus and anti-spyware software may still give FALSE warnings, details below). I would just like to take the time..to make you see that Patchou has no obligation to continue production and/or development of Messenger Plus!…and by including a sponsor, he can continue to distribute Messenger Plus! to the public for free. He’s done all this for you..please..just cut him some slack.
When using either custom install or automatic install, Messenger Plus! will always prompt you with the sponsor agreement. Only when you click one of the two options, the install will go to the next step… It is completely at your discretion that the sponsor does what it does. When you’ve agreed to install the sponsor, no one but yourself is under any obligation. Thus, the sponsor is COMPLETELY OPTIONAL; Patchou has given you the complete choice of installing the sponsor or not, whilst still installing Messenger Plus! without any limitations whats-so-ever.
Furthermore, just to clear things up. The sponsor is in no way a trojan or spyware. Anti-Virus vendors have classified lop as a trojan whilst Anti-Spyware vendors have classified lop as spyware, this is in no way true for the lop package that comes with Messenger Plus!. As I have already informed you Patchou is using a HIGHLY modified sponsor package with Messenger Plus! He has also fought vigorously to have Messenger Plus! re-labeled from trojan and spyware to harmless software..but most vendors have refused (in mock ignorance).
I assure you my instructions above work. As I am an official Messenger Plus! tester (contacting me about it will result in a blatant ignore), I install the sponsor with EVERY build I recieve to insure no one suffers from any possible sponsor-won’t-install bug. And contrary to belief, those steps above work flawlessly.
No offense intended, nor do I wish to provoke anyone with this post. If it does provoke anyone or offend anyone, I apologise. However I request that the staff contact me first before removing or editing my post..thanks.

EvilSeph

MemberGreetings, if you’re still checking this, please inform us of your system specifications, what Operating system you are running, what Firewall you are running, what anti-virus application you are running, your internet explorer version.. MSN Messenger version and anything else you think would help us provide a sufficient solution to your problem, thanks.

MemberMSN Messenger comes with a feature to automatically sign in when connected to the internet, I can’t recall if it only works when you save your sign on details (which would be logical) but it used to cause me problems when I went out to other peoples’ places. So I thought, why not try it 🙂
To disable this feature follow these steps:
1) Go to your contact list.
2) Click on Tools > Options…
3) Click on the General tab
4) Untick “Allow automatic sign in when connected to the Internet”
Hope this works, good luck :).

MemberDowngrade your video card, it’s a video card incompatibility problem.
I may even go so far as to say that you have an NVidia card as it is the one that this problem is mostly associated to.
