Have you looked at any of the ICQ FAQ pages? They have lots of helpful tips and tricks there for beginners.

I tried getting used to Trillian as an IRC client, but ended up going back to MiRC. I don’t know; it’s just more comfortable to me.

I use multiple servers at once: ZiRC, EfNet, and GamesNet

I know you say you don’t want to view them in Messenger, but I think there is an option whilst viewing them in Yahoo to save/export them to a *.txt file OR copy+paste the transcript.
