You can not use a program like buddy spy to see someone elses friends list and all. All a program like buddy spy does is send a packet to the yahoo server and based on the response it gets it tells you if the person is online or not. It used to be as simple as sending a conference invitation packet but last time I checked yahoo had fixed that. So a person can not view some one elses friends list with buddy spy.
You archives are stored on your local machine so some will have to have access to your machine to view archives which is not possible with buddy spy.
Programs like buddy spy are an annoyance that is all.
Hope that put to rest some of your fears
kron_19792000MemberThe person may be using the id. If they just allow you to add their name to your list and if they do not add you to their list, you will not get a notification of any sort.
So they might be using the id but that person may not have added you to their list.kron_19792000MemberI do not know if this will work for a .wmv file but I remember I had a problem when I tried to play a .avi file. This is what I did.
Windows media player>options>performance>performance
At the the bottom of that screen you will see a drag bar for video acceleration, set it to none.
Then try playing the vid. That should work.kron_19792000MemberTry this out.
Go to yahoo preferences>file transfer>port number in use and change it to some other port say port 50000, the default is port 80.
After that you will need to forward port 50000. Go to http://www.portforward.com/routers.htm and find out how to forward for your particular router.
Do you have a firewall? You will need to make sure yahoo messenger has access. Do you have Norton? I had a lot of problems trying to forward my ports when I had norton installed. Had to manually remove it to get my port forwarding working.
Hope that helped.kron_19792000MemberIf you do not people to know your ip address use a proxy while browsing. You can find a lot of proxies around to setup the proxy once you have it
For IE goto Tools>Internet Options>Lan setting(if you have a lan or choose the dial up conn. and click on settings) Type in the proxy address and the port it uses.
For Mozilla goto Tools>Options>General>Connection Settings>Manual proxy configaration and set your proxy.
That should ensure that your original ip does not go out.
You do not have to worry too much about someone having your ip address. Anyone can get information about who the service provider for that ip is.
I doubt he has got into your computer, if he had then I do not think he would tell you about it.
Get a third party firewall for xp Zone alarm is a decent free firewallkron_19792000MemberAnother thing that might be worth mentioning is that a 802.11b network card will not interface with a 802.11a network, so it also depends on where you plan on using it and what sort of network they have.

Here is a detailed guide on how to remove cws_ns3
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topict3341.htmlOreo
I think I had Downloadware once, if I remember right you can not just kill the process from the task manager. Download winpatrol if you are a bit hesitant to go into your registry or to change your boot.ini. You can get it here.
http://www.winpatrol.com/winpatrol.html
You can use it to see what programs are running from startup and you can kill active process, I think that did the job of stopping the process.
If I remeber right you should be able to unistall it from your add/remove programs, I am not sure though. Check that also out.
This was a while back or it was some other spyware/addware that I had so if some of the things I have written may not work.kron_19792000MemberIt is a flaw in yahoo cam permission settings.
This is what you have to do.
Change your pw into something tough to crack like a word+numbers with upper and lower case letters
In your yahoo pref change the permission to deny everyone. That should stop him
Try it out and let us know if it works.
Good luckP.S:- If he/she has written the trojan/spyware then a anti virus will not pick it up.
kron_19792000MemberYes it can be done. You will need a patch I am pretty sure some here has the site, if you can not find it just post back I will upload it.

I have had this problem a few times, but IE does not seem to have a similar problem, is it a Firefox centric problem? I have to view a few web pages with IE only, sometimes they open in Firefox and the other times it does not open, any idea why this happens.
Thanks in advance.kron_19792000MemberI can not figure out this unholy obession with an ip address it is not like you will get a house address, all you are going to get is the city, that is if you are lucky.
Why dont you try netstat before sending an IM and after sending an IM, that way you will see a new IP add. the new one will be the direct connection you have made.
My best advice would be to put him/her on your ignore list and move on. The ip add. in itself is meaninglesskron_19792000Memberhttps://bigblueball.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15188&highlight=blocked
You might want to read that.kron_19792000MemberI was reading the topic and it really got me thinking. It is true I am more likely to believe what a stranger tells me online, that is if I can find a few other online sources to verify it. But if my parents were to find information on net they simply would not believe it, they would need an off-line legitimate source to verify it and this is a general thing I have noticed among people who have not used the net/computers for a long time or have a inherent dislike towards technology.
Like Jeff said, it comes down to trust. If I see information on a legitimate site I would be more likely to believe it.
In general I think it comes down to environment also. Who would listen to a guy screaming at a street corner, but if the same person were to make a blog and put it down there then you would most proably be reading it when you are sitting at home with a bit of free time on your hands and you would be more inclined to “Listen”. You have time to process the information and check it’s validity. Online you have the option of collabrating what you have read and it is easy as compared to trying to verify information in the real world.
I think it also has to do with having a captive audience. If a person were to listen to what you have to say COMPLETLY in the real/online world then he/she is more likely to believe you or atleast remember what you had to say.
The net also comes down to reach. Proably if you found those eight people offline and made them listen they would be receptive to the idea. You have to remember that online you choose what you want to read. In the real world we are generally turned off to what people are talking about. Haven’t we been told a million times that it is impolite to listen in on other peoples conversation? But online everything is fair game.I hope I made some sense there i seem to have gone off on tangents at many points 🙂
kron_19792000MemberThere is not much you can do if you have forgotten the details that you used to make the account.
You might want to check this thread out https://bigblueball.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29237kron_19792000MemberIt sounds like you have partially deleted it, you could try to reinstall the program and then get rid of it normally from the add/remove program list.
