lol….do we even have one?……:/
kyuubiMemberhaha…that’s why we dump Norton and get NOD32….;)
kyuubiMemberit freezes every 3 hours?…..if the temp won’t even go over 50 Degress it for sure is not a overheating….have you check to see if you’re RAM are ok?….maybe it’s a hardware fault somewhere?
kyuubiMemberArsenal wrote:I’m looking to buy a Mac Mini and switch from a PC to a Mac. Is this an easy conversion? I have all PC accesories though. I have a Microsoft wireless keyboard and Mouse, a Hitachi Monitor and most importantly of all, a router. I want to know if this stuff is compatible. I would really like to be able to take some of my files with me.
I also have some more questions:
Is it easy to convert over for anyone who has?
How does Mac work for you?
Would I need to buy anything that it doesn’t come with?
Is the 1.25 or whatever the minimum for Mac Mini is, enough? I have a 3.0 GHZ on my laptop now.
Is 256 MB of Ram enough? I have 512 on both my PC’s now.No problem….all your hardware will work just fine. That is I am assuming that your Keyboard and Mouse is USB compatible…and the monitor is fine because the Mini give you a converter so you can hook it up right away. And regarding router, Macs do play nice when they are on a windows network and the Mac will see the PCs and the PCs will see the Mac with no problem what so ever.
Now for the switch. You will have no problem switching. You will know how to use everything in about…8 hours. OS X is very easy to use and efficient and when you use it long enough, you will see that you really don’t miss windows. This is a good time to get it becuase you will get iLife 05 free with your Mac Mini. All the softwares come pre-loaded with your Mac so you can get set-up and running in minutes.
the 1.25GHz and 256MB of Ram is fine for every day things as long as you don’t do massive video editing and music recording. It will run like a speedy little devil. Comparing to other Macs, the Mini is more powerful than the iBook anyway you look at it, but it doesn’t quite match up with the Powerbook unless you put in a bit more RAM and a bit more CPU power. But for your 1st Mac, the Mini will serve you fine.
Hope this helps and trust me…you will love your Mac..
kyuubiMemberbahh….just close the topic already…..
kyuubiMember49?…..that’s not too hot…..what are you running with the 49 temp?
kyuubiMember…..skins…..skins for what?….MSN? Computer? Trillian?…what?..and have you used Google to search it up?…I’m sure there are some somewhere
kyuubiMemberDo you have a ASUS board?…if you are than ASUS have their own Temp monitor…if not than use this one

And for the over heating problem? Dell’s laptop have a reputation of overheating even under normal usage…there is really nothing you can do other than replacing your heat sink an fan….but check if you’re over heating or not. A standered would be when you coumputer is under normal load, shouldn’t be anthing over….50 degress.
Good Luck
kyuubiMemberLOL…can you say Spam?…..1st post…:P
kyuubiMemberno of corse not….maybe you don’t realize this…but the PSP is not a MEDIA PLAYER. It was made for portable gaming hence the name play station portable. The movie playing and the music playing function is simply an add-on to the PSP it self. Obviously iPod won’t drop their price…why should they? There is no competitions from Sony over the PSP..if you get the PSP, you get it for the gaming not the music. Beside the 32MB memory Card Sony give you won’t let you do much anyways…and plus the Music and movie functions don’t work very well. Take movies for example, it is hell to get your movie from whatever format to .AVI and then transfering it to a different format at a different resolution so the PSP can read it. For music, it doens’t let you organize your libary and it simply just “play” and do nothing else. You can’t make playlists, organize your tracks by time, artist, albums, it just simply “play”. If you’re not much on Gaming, than I suggest you choose something other than the PSP…and for a $300….if you’re not going to be gaming on the bus every single day, you’re really not getting much other than the supposing Sony goodness and braging rights…;)
And oh yeah…did I tell you that each game for the PSP is $50?….
What is ever more sad? Sony had to give everyone the stupid “value pack” which pushed up the price by $75 to say to least and give you completly useless things. The 32MB memory card?…can’t do much with that…carrying case…it’s a SOFT CASE…doesn’t do much protection there, the Earphones are not very good and they are white….LOL…I guess Sony decided that the PSP users need to be “down” with the iPod guys.. and the rest? Pretty much usless too like sample movies and such. The only real useful thing is the AC adaptor however that could be easily replaced.
On the better side however, PSP is great for 3rd party support. I can tell you right now that Memory sticks, Case, and others will be rushing in in a little bit for the PSP, and a Firmwire update should fix the excisting flaws that are already discovered in the PSP, like Music play back, Movie play back and movie formating and resolutions and such, but for the moment, the PSP is for sure not worth the $300…give it 6 month when everything is fixed up and 3rd party support is up, than give the PSP a consideration. But as of now…it is out of the question.
Yes, I am getting a PSP this summer in Japan, and by the time I get it, everything will be a LOT cheaper and the PSP will actually be worth of what IT IS……
Can’t blame Sony…they never get it right the first time…
kyuubiMemberI heard its good…but somehow…I feel that I should wait for the final version…however..is the memory foot print smaller in the new version?
kyuubiMemberdid you run a Spyware and Virus check?….maybe it’ll pick something up through there…
