I’m afraid I don’t know what “safe mode” means. Please explain as though I were not very smart. I follow directions quite well but I don’t know a lot of terms. “Click this, type in this….” – those are the kind of instructions I understand.

Good idea, detn8r. I hadn’t thought of that. Unfortunately, it’s happening again as we speak. A smooth download until it gets to imagehlp.dll, and then it will be stuck on that forever. Oddly, task manager continues to say that the program is running fine. However, I’m pretty sure that this is supposed to take minutes, not hours. Any more suggestions? This has also disabled MSN messenger, if that sets off any light bulbs for anyone. I just want it OUT.

I’ve also exited everything and re-booted 3 times. My PC had been downloading the 5.9 update for the 3rd time today for over 2 hours. Same result. It’ gets stuck on a dll file and never completes the process. Thanks for any assistance to help me get this off. When Oh When will I learn. I will never, ever have anything AOL related on any computer ever again. It is always disaster.
