November 11, 2007 at 10:22 pm in reply to: Is MSN forcibly switching people from Hotmail to Windows live… #165293MistahMan
ParticipantThat’s my question. I had the option to go back to the non “upgraded” version and now it’s gone so I’m wondering for the people who havent yet decided to try the new version, will they eventually have their Hotmail account switched automatically…

ParticipantI found a solution to this issue. Simply do not open a transfered file by clicking on it within the MSN/Windows live messenger chat window. Open it from the “Received files” folder or wherever it’s saved to. Such a simple workaround to what is suppose to be a security feature. Why even put the file transfer feature in Messenger at all if you can’t transfer something as common as an mp3?!?

ParticipantSo when someone sends you an email to your Gmail account, do you then get a notice on your msn messenger too like if you were using a Hotmail one?
MistahMan
ParticipantThanks, it resolved itself a while go. Didn’t have to switch.

ParticipantYeah… I think that should be my choice tho if I want to use msn or e-mail to answer tho. I hate Microsoft for things like that.

ParticipantNope I meant Msn Messenger. Whenever I access Hotmail through the website, Messenger loads.

ParticipantI was refering to clicking on the tray Icon and waiting to have the window appear displaying my buddy list. I went back to 6.2. I’m running Windows 98 se with 128 ram 700mhz which I think is enough to run a chat application without lag, no? Even ICQ is quicker on my pc than this new version.

ParticipantI already suggested this to MSN.

ParticipantOk thanks for the link Dos

ParticipantI’m actually on ZoneAlarm firewall but I always was even before High speed. Really the only thing that’s changed is that I have a network card installed and am on high speed. I’m also on Windows 98.

ParticipantI guess the problem is that Microsoft is way too intent on making all their applications compatible with one another. There’s less and less room for personal settings.

ParticipantI’m looking at my calendar right now. Reminders and all…

Well like I tell you, I think they are taking the feature off group by group… Not sure.

ParticipantQuote:quote:Originally posted by DJHyperbyteQuote:quote:Originally posted by MistahManTry using the link when you’re signed into Hotmail. It still works for me.
Nope, sorry. The link doesn’t work from my computer.
Weird.. Where are you located? I wonder if they are systematically removing the feature from everyone…
