MemberFREDDY – hopefully no one was seriously offended by that, and if so MEA CULPA … I was – I hope – trying to point out that persons who engage in pointless – though enlightening to this GIMP [an insult there?] – arguments are only wasting time.
I feel that the DEBATE over legality is moot – as is the argument over proprietary mechanics and “ownership,” because, as it was so well pointed out by OREO, the moment one “product” hits the net, someone equally talented or curious will be ther to improve, destroy, modify or otherwise the product to suit their own needs/wants/desires.
Thanks OREO, for your response. I guess that i am not looking for complete anonymity, and invisibility, but to “hide” adequately so that if I am in an alias which is unknown to someone, they will not be able to tell it is me unless I “rat myself out.” I suppose, though, that there are programs available to someone/anyone “savvy” enough to use them, so that if they know the ID NUMBER of your hard drive, they can tell it is you no matter how hard you try to hide.
I am learning – and thanks to you all for the teaching.

MemberNO ONE HAS ANSWERED MY QUESTION – which I thought was simple enough … does Y!TUNNEL give COMPLETE anonymity to the user in a chat environment?
You gits are arguing about something that is not even realistic … because if YAHOO! and the rest of these folks wanted to invest the time and resources to completely “cleaning up” their systems from all the pervs, hackers, bots and the rest of the “clutter” out there, including squashing programs that adjunct to or operate from their basic processes, they would.
Don’t you all understand that the guys and gals running these outfits got their starts just like most of you: THEY PLAYED UNTIL THEY GOT IT RIGHT – then went out and made GILLIONS OF DOLLARS, so folk like us could learn, play and enjoy this technology. SIMPLE – even for a GIMP (whetever the hell that means) like me to understand.
While you are arguing about technicalities, legalities and so forth, they are out there MAKING MONEY – all you are doing is investing time.
NOW – someone PLEASE let me know – is there a program …Y!TUNNEL or otherwise … which will allow completely anonymous and virtually total invisibility in chats?
Please???
thanks

MemberI hope you all wont think that I am completely stoopid – but, I really know virtually nothing about secutiry and so forth.
QUESTIONS:
(1) does anyone know a good freeware ANTIKEYLOGGER program? i have a good antispyware {adaware} but it does not catch keyloggers}
(2) is there any way to GUARANTEE that someone will not see you when you log into chat? my wife sez that she can see me come into a room even when i log into messenger “invisible.” (what good is that if it don’t work as advertized?) {NO – i am not spying on anyone, and not trying to be sneaky – just want to visit and be left alone}
(3) is there any way to have this knowledge DUMPED INTO MY HEAD??? dam i hate being ignorant … HELP!!!
thanks

Memberrookie here – sorry for the “intrusion” – i have been told that y!Tunnel and similar programs give a messenger user COMPLETE anonylity, in that no one can tell they are present in a room, they can “travel” virtually anywhere with no other user knowing it, and can have their IP address completely blocked so that no other user can “see” them.
the TRUTH here???
and also – despite the fact that you need a 60″ screen to view some of these posts, i get the impression that y!Tunnel and its kin might not be totally above board …
the TRUTH here?>>
thanks

Memberok – this is all fascinating to me … as a “rookie” in this game of cat-n-mouse called chat, my wife tells me that she KNOWS when i have followed her into a room in a “traveling” nic (one that i use for better anonymity) – does she have a program of some sort (someone sed an IP “sniffer”) that shows me even tho i log into yahell (messenger) “invisible?” this is all new to me, and i really want to know.
also – does the y!Tunnel program really block comeone’s chances of “seeing” your IP?
also – someone said that on dial up (me) your IP changes each time you go online. i thot that your IP was automatically a part of the programming of your hard drive – an internal registration, as it were …
help???
thanks.
