MemberAll of the sounds should be .wav files on your computer. On AIM you can set custom sounds. Edit Prefrences>IM/Chat>Sounds>Browse. All of the sounds for AOL should be in its program directory. I don’t have AOL, so I don’t know, but i’m guessing somewhere like C:Program FilesAOLSounds

MemberThis topic has been for almost a year. Chances are the people who started them aren’t around.
The same thing with this topic – https://bigblueball.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=5115
Your response to this topic – https://bigblueball.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=8404 was absolutely useless and borderline ignorant, as well as brining up an old thread.
Another old thread you responded to with a useless answer https://bigblueball.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=2401 – AIM+ has been updated since then – duh.
I usually try to be helpful when I can. But if I were a moderator I would lock all of those threads and delete your account. Try reading over some of the sticky’s and using at least a minimal amount of form etiquette.

MemberI don’t believe AIM supports the appropriate HTML. The user must click on a link. Most sub-profile services can be easily fooled anyway by someone who doesn’t want you to know they checked your profile. They just see what the link is, and then replace their sn with something else and open it in a browser.

MemberYou must be running windows XP. I also do not have the video option, I am running ME.

MemberI don’t know much about it, but it is 9.9 mbs and the screen shots look like they have taken away some AIM features and added some of their own junk. Doesn’t sound too lite. I believe the code you and david provided on the thread https://bigblueball.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=10341 is less than that.

MemberDavid has made a program called Who’s Online that shows everyone who is invisible. Anyone can see if you are invisible by trying to check your profile as alana said or by trying to send you a message. There is not a way to stop this from happening except for blocking the people while you are invisible. If you are away from the computer, I would reccomend putting up an away message as well. If you are at your computer you can just ignore the person and pretend you weren’t there and that is why you were invisible.

MemberI used to/still do occasionally have that problem. The problem is you are losing connection with the AIM servers. If you sign off and sign on again it should go back to normal. What programs/hardware do you have that may affect your internet connection?

MemberQuote:quote:it probably changes the number to 1-###-###-####, instead of ###-###-####.ummmmm, 1-###-###-#### and ###-###-#### are the same thing. however it may change it to 1##-###-#### with an extra # at the end which doesn’t matter if the 1 before the area code isn’t necessary.

Memberwhen you ‘format’ a screenname, you change how it appears. For instance BoB or bob or Bob. Those would all be the same screenname formatted differently. If this is what you mean, than yes it is true that they do not lose their formating. If you are talking about buddylist than it will have whatever list you make while signed onto that sn as your main one. If you are talking about setting such as the stock-ticker, today window, or sounds it will use the settings for the main sn you are signed in under. not sure what you wanted to know Yizm, but I hope that helps.

MemberThe new terms of service have been in affect since Feb. 5. Since you signed on to the names, you will have to wait another 90 days. There is no way to delete a screenname. You can only remove it from your computer (just select it and hit delete). Your best chance to have a screenname deactivated is to contact AOL, but they probably won’t help. From what you have said it doesn’t sound to me like you have registered the new screenname. Somebody probably has it or it isn’t registered at all, nothing is “too original” for AIM. Have you tried the “forgot password” feature? I seriously doubt that there would be a way to delete a screenname that you can’t even sign on to or that AIM would be willing to help.

MemberI am looking for something that uses the smilies from AOL, so the other person doesn’t have to install anything.

MemberNew AIM policy says if an account is inactive for 90 days then it will be deleted automatically. If you don’t need the names, I would just let them expire. I’m not sure what you mean about registering the new sn. Do you have it already? and if not, what does it say when you try to register it? someone else might have wanted the same really good screenname and gotten to it before you.

MemberYou need to download an add-on. I think AIMutation supports this.

MemberOk, I just tried the Smiley Update at SmileySpot.com and it screwed up my display and only added one smiley set. I had to uninstall and use the backup AimRes.dll I had made. Does anyone out there even use the smilies anymore??? I miss the BigBlueBall Smiler.
