Firstly we are only on our third podcast.
The first one was based on what bbb is about and an overview of what we are about. In order for members to understand our forum. As you will know Spike highlighted our reputation system.
The second podcast was discussing different types of IM out there, after all that’s what we are about…
There has been snippets of news Shifter discussed Thoughtsafe and I am sure there will be more news to come.
I know it’s a fast paced world but surely the great thing about a podcast, is the fact that you don’t have to listen to the whole thing all in one go? You can save it and listen to it when you have time.
I appreciate your comments on this don’t get me wrong but I really don’t feel me or anyone else going into a chat room would have made any difference at all to what we discussed.
Basically my point is that we have only just started with this so there will be a learning curve, but personally just hearing IM news and more news would be a total bore. It’s just finding the happy medium and I am sure in time we will.
Personally I like the way this is going.
Yes its only our 3rd podcast, and thus needs constructive critisizm 😉
Going into a chat was my poor example of how we should make our podcasts more exclusive. That, “You can only get it on Big Blue Ball” feeling. Thats why interviews are so great.
And yes, just rolling news headlines would be boring: What I ment was that I feel our discussions need to be geared towards whats happening now. Neowin’s podcasts, for example, usually feature the team having discussions amongst themselves about the latest happenings (Google Wi-Fi in San Francisco, Delayed Vista, Aquisition of Alienware, etc.). I think this is an important part of podcasting.
Someguy03MemberTo be honest, I think our podcasts need more NEWS. We have tips and discussions and so on, but we seem to lack actual IM news, which is what I think alot of people will be listening for. They want to find out whats new and hot. And should have a part where we just roll off the headlines with quick summarys; We don’t necessarily need to go into discussions over everything. This is a fast paced world and not everyone has the time to sit around and listen to discussions. An example I would give is that I often read Neowin summarys but don’t go into the more detailed article unless I am particularly interested in it. Podcasts aren’t like that- people are forced to endure whatever you throw at them.
And personally I think that our material is a bit weak. The IM Safety discussion could have been more interesting. Someone should have gone first hand into a public IM chatroom and experienced it for themselves and then shared about it (in an AIM chatroom that wouldn’t take more than 15 minutes). It could have been so much more exciting and exclusive.
Someguy03MemberGo to http://www.meebo.com and try to log on to AIM.
Hit us back with the results.
April 8, 2006 at 6:09 pm in reply to: active update-aol core services – software update -Is this from AIM? #140305Someguy03MemberI would install it. Triton does use AOL services for its own updates and functionality (I don’t mean any actual AOL programs, I just mean they have software thats supposed to run and integrate all their programs). Installing this would probably provide bux fixes.
Someguy03MemberSome things to discuss:
– IM gadgets
– Google Talk will soon work with AIM
– Why the MSN Messenger BETA is good/bad
– Why the Triton is good/bad
– T-Mobile’s unlimited texting for $10 a month – Some cell phone IMers are going to LOVE that deal
– Shine light on Jay Lodens AIMFix
– Gmails new Google Talk integration
– Notify people of new version releases for the big messengers
– Gaim is being seriously revamped latelySomeguy03MemberNorton Internet Security has a list of programs that its firewall either blocks or allows based on what you put. I’d suggest that you find this list and make sure AIM is allowed.

Awww, you shouldn’t have told. I wanted all the people to run over and try and sign up.
Someguy03MemberGood job spike. I saw my description and was happily surprised that It was perfect.

Once I get the full instructions, I’ll post them for you. 🙂
Someguy03Member1,000 hp twin-turbo V-10 engine? Soon these things are going to need nuclear power to run themselves.
Someguy03MemberWell theres alot of legitimate reasons for not doing this. I know alot of people who have year-old screenames on their buddylist, so imagine if someone got your account and signed on, and then suddenly gets messaged by 5 of your old friends. Complete chaos.
Someguy03MemberWell, first things first. What version of AIM are you using? It might not be compatible with AIMutation v1.32
Someguy03MemberSomeguy03MemberHaha sadly, no. And I say this with complete confidence, so don’t take it as a lazy answer.
Someguy03MemberThis is a screwed up TEST that I recorded, but it has the decent idea. I wanted to talk about, well, instant messaging…gadgets?
The sound screws up for a second, but I didn’t have time to re-record this.
Other than the audio screw up, I consider this a decent example
