Try AIM Triton if you haven’t already.
Someguy03MemberAs long as you remove the web browser that comes with it, you should be fine. I’ve found no “spyware”.
Someguy03MemberWhoa whoa, Where did you find miniformat? I was trying to find it for several users but couldn’t locate it.
Someguy03MemberDo you have AIM 5.9 or AIM Triton.
Someguy03MemberAOL temporarily took this out for reasons unknown to me, but I have a fix for you =].
They have a secret menu where you can turn it back on.
On AIM Triton buddylist, click edit at the top, and then click settings. Once the settings window is open, you will see a little search box in the top left corner. Type “config” in this box (without the quotes) and then a new tab will appear. It should be called “About:Config”
Click on the tab and you will see a long list of items with a 1 or 0 next to them.
Now scroll down to the middle-bottom until you see “loggingLogIMs”.Change the 0 next to it to a 1 and then save.
Someguy03MemberMake sure to congradulate MrEggSalad on his Ipod win. =]
Someguy03MemberI searched the website and couldn’t find a page saying what kind of things you would be doing with networking while your there. Be sure to explain it to us when you get back =)
Someguy03MemberQuote:Eolas has a patent on how a browser downloads multimedia content that is within a web page. Eolas claims that Internet Explorer infringes on that patent and wants royalties. Software affected by the patent would include Macromedia Flash, QuickTime, RealOne Player, Acrobat Reader, Sun’s Java Virtual Machine, and Windows Media Player among other applications that embed into Web pages.Basically Eolas won the case and now “Microsoft is modifying IE to shield itself from liability”
Someguy03MemberOreo wrote:I did not tell you to steer clear of them my dear….what that fortune cookie quote means is basically that so many negative thoughts can get in the way of progress…in ALL honesty NO ONE….not me, not Jeff, not Sarah, not Dave, NO ONE…knows how this podcast section will go over until it is actually put out there….and that’s the truth….it may flop like a kid jumping into a pool (yay summer’s coming here!) or it may take off like a bird in the sky….OR…it may just kind of float there and not have much of an effect either way… Criticism is good…as long as it is constructive.Yes yes I know, and thats why I’m steering clear- Because all I’ve had is negative thoughts about this. Once this thing becomes more developed and streamlined, I’ll make my return ;]
Someguy03MemberIf you have a PC nearby, I would try that on the same internet connection and see what happens.
Someguy03MemberYou asked me in a PM how much this would probably cost you. Most I’ve seen would probably run you up $20.

Oh, and the college thing? Pocketbooks. *can I get a ‘woot woot’ for struggling through community college tuition?*
Haha I just ment that the average of intellegence is going to be higher with older people because (hopefully) they will understand more. Besides, the more intellegent thing was half serious half joke (hence the smiley).
And I didn’t really grow ‘super sensitive’. Basically I said “everyone post their ideas here”, and then Jeff made this topic, saying “everyone post your ideas here”. So I basically took it as “ok my topic was a bad idea” and deleted it. He may have saw my topic as more of an archive, I’m not sure.
Anyway, I think I’m going to take Oreos advice and steer clear of the podcast from now on. When I bitch about it, there seems to more problems than progress . 😉
Someguy03MemberHaha your not going to find anyone giving those away here unless your willing to pay. 2-3 chars are gold to the people who hold them.
Someguy03MemberTigerblade wrote:speaking of, what happened to kyle’s thread for podcast ideas? i saw it was deleted, but… why?Yes, I posted a whole topic of ideas that was outright ignored. So completely ignored by everyone that I just deleted it.
It was:
- IM gadgets – Ogo, Sidekick, IMfree
- Google Talk will soon work with AIM – One of the results of Google buying $1billion stake in AOL
- MSN Messenger Beta – Why its good/bad
- AIM Triton– Why its good/bad and where you can download AIM 5.9 if you don’t like triton (its hidden on their website)
- T-Mobile’s unlimited texting for $10 a month – Some cell phone IMers are going to LOVE that deal
- Shine light on Jay Lodens AIMFix – People seem hopeless lately
- Gmails new Google Talk integration – You can view your contacts/their away messages/IM them/etc
- Discuss new version releases – For the big messengers (AIM, MSN, Yahoo, Google Talk, Gaim, Trillian)
- Gaim is being seriously revamped lately – Interview?
And in response to you all of you, by teenagers, I ment 16-17+ (people with atleast some intellegence 😉 )
You want a rant of the week? People who IM me from BBB and ask me how to hack screenames.
Someguy03MemberOreo wrote:Not to mention with all of the things happening and IN the news lately, parents (and kids) will be looking for a place to find information….Parents? Besides the fact that I don’t find much potential in parents as a target audience, I believe that any parent downloading the BigBlueBall podcast would probably already be tech savvy (And thus would not need our podcast for information on IM safety. Many of you are an example). I just don’t find much point in discussing it. What would people of any age get out of it? I’m sure 90% of our listeners are probably very good with computers and don’t need tips on anything.
I agree with David. Even if we can’t strike a cord with everyone, I feel that we should still target our most potential audience- which I think would be computer literate teenagers.
Jeff, if you have stats that prove otherwise, please share.
