Hey..
Just noticed something….. while I cant figure out the pattern yet… it appears that it is not always aborting if the user is offline. It still goes through all the checks. Strange…..

May 4, 2005 at 12:02 am #106515UnSaKreDMemberhey dan,
With 2.2.1, I am getting that pattern as well, unfortunately its not easy to reproduce some names it skips some names it doesnt.
With 2.2.2, I am still getting the pattern, but not nearly as often.
From what I can tell so far, is that the packets are arriving before the pause time of the next scan. I am working on it, and hopefully in 2.2.02 it will be no more!
May 4, 2005 at 7:48 am #106599dan-i-amMemberYeah…Im working on the pattern. I’ll let you know what I find.
Here’s a question/thought…..
I know many people have asked about the ability to scan for aliases…and to date, not possible.. but Im wondering the following….There are many times when I suspect that a particular ID is an alias of another one… meaning someone is coming in with an alias of another known ID…however, I have not been able to completely confirm this. Now..I have tried scanning each of these suspected alias at the same time with Buddy Spy and they each show up online at the same time..and seem to go offline at the same time. Coincidence or not?
My questions are the following:
1) If someone is using an alias, will both his alias and his main ID appear as online?
2) Is it possible to plug in an alias name in an app (not yet created) and see if it is a child alias of a known ID (rather than plugging in the main ID and having it return all aliases)….Do ya’ get what Im trying to say ? 🙂
Let me know what you think..
– dan –
**BTW**
Im not asking that this be a feature for Buddy Spy…just wondering if it’s possible….– dan –

1.) yes, if you know both ID’s then yes it will show them online
2.) so far an alias pulling program has yet to be made, last one was in like 2001 I believe. Also, so far buddy spy 2.2.02 doesnt have that odd result problem, or it is not nearly as inherinet as it is in the 2.2.1
I think within the next few days I will release the next beta build.
May 6, 2005 at 8:15 am #106600dan-i-amMemberA couple of minor things with 2.2.1…..
The time stamp does not change when rescanning a name..it keeps the time of the first scan… but it does appear in the “History” section with the right time.
<>
In the History Section… the “Chatroom Status” colors are not consitent. Sometimes the “Not in Chat” is in blue…sometimes in red…..
just minor cosmetics…

May 6, 2005 at 6:41 pm #106697an0nym0usParticipantHello, im new to this forum. I apologize if this question has been asked or has been covered but i did not want to read thoroghly through the 17 pages of this thread. I did browse through most of the pages but did not find anything related to this subject.
Ive been using buddy spy for quite awhile and i love it!! Seriously, great work on the new version!!. I have a few question tho….i was wondering if there was a way for the scan history to automatically be written to a text file or if it is already stored somewhere. Also, i wanted to know if there is an option to scan every few mins. Right now, i have an automatic mouse clicker to “scan” every few mins. The history is able to hold a quite large number of lines so i just check there after. Maybe a “Scan every x minutes” is something people might want? And history text logging? The process I use to accomplish my task works okay but I get disconnected after extended hours usually less than a day. The returned error at the bottom is something along the lines of “Bad username or password.” If needed, maybe an “automatically login on disconnect” would be a workaround for this?
Well I’m just reporting on this 2.2.1 build and providing suggestions that you may think is a good idea. Hope you can use this information on the next build. Overall, the new buddy spy works great. Keep up the good work!
May 6, 2005 at 8:08 pm #106601dan-i-amMemberThat’s funny….
I have thought about the same two items… the history>text option and the scheduled scans. However, I use “Automate 5” to schedule my scans so it’s not that big a deal and I have been doing screen captures of the history page for archiving.– dan –
**FYI**
Sometime tonight or tomorrow I am going to write out a “success” story for you about my use of BuddySpy…. a complete legit use of it. 🙂 It has helped make a strange/hurtful situation for a friend of mine something better.– dan –
May 7, 2005 at 1:09 am #106517UnSaKreDMemberAutomated scan is something I am working on currently.
So within the next two or three betas it will be implimented.
I have slated 2.2.02 to be released within the next few days.
Unfortunately however, it will have to be a full re-install since I had to update the .dll as well as the .exe.
May 9, 2005 at 8:23 pm #106602dan-i-amMemberHere’s a short story to show how Buddy Spy recently helped with some recent drama in a Yahoo chatroom.
An old reg of a room I visit decided that she was going to start messing with some of her friends heads (I only knew her from the chatroom she was closer friends with others I knew). She created a new ID and came in the room pretending to be someone else and started telling people that the person we knew was dead. Then as we were questioning this “new” person, the story changed from not dead, to just in a coma but not expected to live. Then a few days later she was supposedely responding…then a day later expected to go home in a few days. A week after this initial “death notice” this reg came back under a new name claiming the previous story about being in a coma and having lost much of her memory. At some friends behest, I started doing some information digging. Along with a lot of information I found out, one of the biggest discoveries/confirmations came with using Buddy Spy.
After this regs “return”, I started thinking that maybe the “friend” (who told of her death) and this reg were the same person, just using different names (one was possibly the alias of the one we knew). So I started scanning both names with Buddy Spy (using Automate 5 to scan every 10 minutes). One night, both names (the admitted new name and the “friend” name) appeared online and offline at least 4-5 times SIMULTANEOUSLY within an hour. This proved to me (and others) that they were both one in the same person and just a cruel game that was played in order for some attention. They always came online and went offline at the exact same times. I started taking screen captures of the “Scan History” page (which held many, many scans) and posted them on a web page for all to see.
Now…this person has been busted with my digging and the use of Buddy Spy and hopefully wont try to pull this stunt again.

May 11, 2005 at 8:37 pm #106692DobrinMember“So I started scanning both names with Buddy Spy (using Automate 5 to scan every 10 minutes).”
Where exactly is this option for automate scan , because I can’t find it ?
Another question – do the people that I scan recieve any messages while I scan them or is there any way they can detect that I scan them without any knowledge at all I mean with only the simple YM , no any other programs.

No they do not receive a message that they are being scanned. There is a program out there that belongs to Unsakred called Anti-Buddy, but he has not released it, but that programs tells you who scanned you. But simply through Yahoo Messenger there is no way to tell.May 11, 2005 at 9:40 pm #106518UnSaKreDMemberAnti-Buddy is a working title lol.
In its raw form, yes it will show you who scanned you, and more as well.
Buddy Spy, does not currently have automated scan, i believe dan is using macro’s?
May 12, 2005 at 5:45 am #106603dan-i-amMember“Automate 5” is a software package used for automating tasks…. basically macros for automating any windows function.
Brandon,
Some more info for ya…
I noticed another quirk in the “history” page. It never displays the name of the room in the history. It will always come back as “Not In Chat”Also… question…
I know that if a user attempts 30 times to get into any number of chatrooms in a short time period, then that ID will be blocked from entering any room for about 10-15 minutes. Also, if you leave a chatroom and try to enter any room (even the same one) you are allowed only 10 attempts. This has been my Yahoo experience forever and others have known this also.My question to you is… are the bots we are using in “Buddy Spy” succeptible to this behaviour as well? It appears as though they may be. I recently tried scanning my own name in one of the “Lobbies” with only 4 people in it… and it showed me online..just “Not In Chat”. However, I logged out and in with a different bot and the result was correct. It found me in the room I was in.

May 12, 2005 at 8:25 pm #106693DobrinMemberNo they do not receive a message that they are being scanned.
So with none of the four scanning methods they can’t know that someone scans them if they don’t use Anti-Buddy ?? Isn’t it possible that any other software shows these attempts , for example Zone Alarm ??
I downloaded AutoMate 6 but can you tell me how to configure that task so that Buddy Spy scans a list every 5 minutes (I can’t find the “wait a certain time” task in the Task Builder) ?

To my knowledge, Buddy Spy does not set off any firewalls or anything which is why it doesn’t alert them. And i doubt any software has been created aside from “Anti-Buddy” at this point. Maybe later there will be, but to my knowledge there isn’t. -
