June 4, 2004 at 12:10 pm #46189grahamdshawMember“Yahoo Mail shortcut. Annoying because I’ll never use it and it’s taking up space in my taskbars”
…erm just right-click and delete it or is that too easy?
June 4, 2004 at 12:16 pm #46188grahamdshawMemberit takes me two attempts to get “chat” started.
and why can I not go straight into a chat via my favorites?quickest way for me now seems to be if I create a room, the access my favorites once i’m in that room…
am I missing something????!
and my audio in rooms still doesn’t work right on the new version either. 2 seconds of audio and then it goes dead until I click the talk button …then 2 seconds of audio and then dead again.
June 4, 2004 at 1:29 pm #46132OreoMemberGrahamdshaw, I’ve had the same problems with chat and so has my husband. And it doesn’t seem to make a difference if we’re on ME or XP Pro. These are just some bugs Yahoo! needs to work out. They went very quickly from BETA to the final edition, so there are certainly going to be kinks. I’ve been playing around with messenger trying to figure out ways to get to fav.’s right away, etc… I will certainly post anything I find. Also, you can edit a post if you forget to add something using the edit button, it’s the button with pencil and paper near the time and date of your post. I forget to add things all of the time and edit, even on this thread. 🙂
June 5, 2004 at 7:47 pm #46207mojoMemberHmm maybe its just me… but the launchcast seems to be buggy when I play it in YM. It gives intermittent script errors when songs change. I have my script checking/reporting off in IE. I am using xp. And I checked for adware/spyware with Spybot.
Anyone else have this problem?
EDIT: nvm found this on another thread: https://bigblueball.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=11901
June 6, 2004 at 7:27 am #46208pookstarMemberFYI, Yahoo! Japan has had avatars for at least a year now at http://avatar.yahoo.co.jp . They’re used primarily for profile pictures on profiles.yahoo.co.jp (mine is at http://profiles.yahoo.co.jp/poookstar). I’m really glad Yahoo! USA has finally picked these up. Yahoo! Japan does charge for some of the avatars and accessories, but there’s plenty of selection for free on their site as well. The Japanese ones are not animated though – I think the animation is a cool feature. I can’t wait until more people get this client so I can play around with the features with more people 😉

June 8, 2004 at 7:27 am #46198PHANTOM_939Membernew yahoo,,, not bad,, needs addons,, but is looking ok…..
June 9, 2004 at 6:51 pm #46209tracky3232MemberI tried the beta when it first came out. I hated it. I liked the direct links to radio and all but thats it. I reinstalled 5.6 after 10 minutes or so. I just dont like the format. I like being able to chose my own skins. Plus the avatars and all that arent great. I tried out the final version at a friend’s house and it wasnt much better. I like the simple format of 5.6 so therefore I will stick with that for now.

June 10, 2004 at 9:38 pm #46211UpuLeraMemberIs it just me? Am I retarded, or is there NO WAY in Yahoo! Instant Messenger 6.0 to list your friends by their Yahoo! ID?
In previous versions, I could show my list of friends in the Messenger window by their Yahoo! ID. Now the only way I can find is for the default – showing all friends by their name (or whatever nickname info I put in their contact info page)
I’ve come to know many of my friends by their Yahoo! ID’s and I’ve used the name field to remind me which of my IDs I used to talk to them (as not to confuse them when I IM them)
Any thoughts/suggestions???
June 11, 2004 at 4:10 am #46110Jeff HesterKeymasterIf you write their yahoo id as the nick name then it will show you the yahoo id in the messenger.
And a better way to remember which ID you use for certain people is to make groups for different IDs
e.g.
myID1:
friend1
friend2myID2:
friend1
friend2And those who find the main messenger windows too big can remove ‘search’, ‘tools’ ect from the menu view->show
