When you go to the per application screen, there should be buttons on the bottom, one of them says “Add per application setting.” Click that, then you have the option to either drag the little crosshair thing onto the app (in this case Yahoo messenger) or “select an app EXE file from disk…”which will allow you to browse for the Yahoo messenger exe.
Hope this cleared things up, and if you have anymore questions, feel free to ask. Also, I am using Windowblinds 4, other versions may be different, I’m not sure. If that is the case then there should be some type of help files within Windowblinds.
amy_d_gParticipantYou have to go into Windowblinds and create a per-application setting and tell it to completly exclude Yahoo messenger. Try this and if you have any more problems, post back.
amy_d_gParticipantHi Marianne and welcome to BBB. Check out the Yahoo! Skins & Personalization FAQ at the top of these forums, question #2. If you need any more help, feel free to post back!
amy_d_gParticipantOk so… I’m back finally! Got my cable turned back on today after spending an hour on the phone with tech support and I’m all set now. Whew, I have lots of catching up to do, feels like I haven’t been online in ages, been going through internet withdrawal… 😀
amy_d_gParticipantJust a quick update… I was back but I am again without internet access for a bit… everything is going good, but I am waiting on Adelphia to get to my house to turn my cable back on… so see you all soon!

amy_d_gParticipantYou are not alone, that is for sure. I have made quite a few skins for versions 6 and 7, and that is one of the most popular questions. I’m not sure why Yahoo took away the ability to use pictures for the background of the buddy list. In version 7 they did add the ability to change the color from white to something else, but still no pics. As for whether they will ever bring that feature back, no one knows. I along with many other people have sent emails asking about this, but all we ever get back is the canned response that basically says, “Currently you cannot make your own skins for Yahoo Messenger.”
amy_d_gParticipantI play Final Fantasy XI online, and I have played with people ranging in age from grade school to grandparents. There is a big difference between instant messaging/chatrooms and online gaming. ASL? is usually one of the first questions that pops up in chat, but I have played with people for hours and never known their age. I agree with Jeff in that the whole purpose of being there is to play the game, it’s not somewhere you go to try and hook up with someone, whereas a lot of people going into chat are looking for relationships, either on a friendly level or a romantic one. And honestly, what do an 11 year old female and an 18 year old male who have never met have in common to chat about in a chatroom? Occasionally, especially being a female, I’ll get the random pick-up line, but it’s not too common. I have two boys, and while they are not old enough to be online just yet, when they are, I would be more likely to keep a closer eye on what they were doing in chat than if they were playing a game like that.
amy_d_gParticipantI’m not sure why the one would work and the other one wouldn’t. Are you sure you did the same thing for both? I had a look at them and they both work fine for me and are set up the same. Try again and then look in your C:Program FilesYahoo!SharedGraphics folder and check that there is a “Bronze” folder in there with the images for that skin.
amy_d_gParticipantYou will still have your original Yahoo Messenger. The multi-yahoo patch simply allows you to launch a second instance of Yahoo.
amy_d_gParticipantI believe there are add-ons that can do that sort of thing, but Yahoo Messenger by itself will not return any message.
amy_d_gParticipantWell it turned into more than a few days, so I figured I would let everyone know what’s going on. I’m having issues trying to get my ex to move out of my house, bit it looks like he will be out this week, then I get to clean up the mess he has left in my house and all will be back to normal, so sometime in the next few weeks I will be back online in full force. I have my pc at my friends house where I am staying, so I will be around here and there until then. Everyone take care, and I will see you soon!
amy_d_gParticipantNot sure… can you give me a link to the skin you are trying to use? That way i can see what the problem is. It could be the way the skin is zipped, or perhaps the way you are installing it.
amy_d_gParticipantCheck in the folders for the skins that don’t work… Inside your graphics folder, you should have the folders for each skin, and inside the folders for the skins should be the image files etc, not any other folders. Check out the bottom of this page for how it should look. If there are any other folders in there anywhere, it will not detect the skins.
amy_d_gParticipantDo you mean you created the crash ID as an alias under your main account? It has been a while since I played Yahoo games, but I seem to remember there being a place where you have to choose which alias you want to appear in the room as… try again and look around for something like that.
