ParticipantI hate the skinned themes, so I was pleasantly surprised to see what I suspect is a bug that draws the native Window border around the application instead of the themed border.
Still looks like crap though.

ParticipantI’ve been using v9* since it was released publicly. I hate the UI skins with a passion. I really wish they’d offer an option to default to the native UI.

ParticipantLame. I value my privacy.
To counter this I need a tool that makes my status perma-idle, or fakes idle status whenever I choose. If my online status is going to be seen I might as well throw a wrench out there and keep certain people guessing as to whether I am actually at the computer or not.

ParticipantI already am using OpenDNS =]
Thanks for the article I am going to read that now.

ParticipantI suspect I accidentally set that value somehow. Thanks for the info 🙂

ParticipantWhy do some users want to see who is invisible anyway? What’s the point of spying? When I am on invisible it is for a reason, I don’t want to be seen and messaged. I’m glad any methods to try and detect this are hit-and-miss and I hope Yahoo makes it more difficult.

ParticipantNo one here is going to tell you how to do anything that violates the Yahoo ToS.

ParticipantMy guess is slimnshady247 is referring to chat room drama. In particular it sounds like something a “booter” would say.
One reason why I stopped frequenting the chat rooms. A lot of the users are just f***ed up. It was unbearable for me long before the spam bots became a problem.
Every script kiddie (and there sure seemed to be a ton of ’em) with fantasies of dominance and power tried booting or disrupting a room in some fashion or another. Even among “regulars,” a mere difference of opinion on a topic seems to result in one party trying to boot another, and everything turns into a perpetual script kiddie troll-fest. The disappointing thing is that this behavior was not limited to any specific age group.
I don’t even want to get started on the socially inept losers who take time and money to create and maintain those generic PHP-Nuke booter sites… and those rap songs about booting they have, wow, just wow, it is extremely pathetic.
However, in all fairness this behaviour is not isolated to Yahoo. It’s a result of people abusing online anonymity. Most people wouldn’t sign their name to the crap they say or do online.
Sorry for ranting, but I’m sure at least a few people share the same sentiments.

ParticipantPeople who have changed Vista’s date for whatever reason experience this.
Make sure Vista is set to the proper date. Yahoo Messenger has a peculiar bug that will cause exactly what you’re experiencing if the date is set to say 2038 or something.

ParticipantI tried two clients concurrently. What seems to work well for me is Yahelite. It gets me into a chat room relatively quickly. I tried the same room with Y! Messenger several times and it wouldn’t enter chat at all, except once after a very long wait.

ParticipantMyspace has [flash based] chat rooms.

ParticipantI don’t use chat rooms regularly so it’s not a big deal for me, but never mind taking long to join a chat room, it’s not joining at all now. The client is not even receiving a rooms/categories list anymore. It’s been like that the last three times I’ve attempted to use a chat room.
I know Yahoo doesn’t owe anyone anything since their chat rooma are a free service, but they’re alienating their chat user base by essentially locking them out of rooms. I imagine many people are going to get fed up with long waits to get in (if at all) and either stop using chat rooms or find alternative services.

ParticipantHaha please tell me it doesn’t make a gun shot sound followed with ‘goodbye’ everytime you ignore someone from voice.
