If you have issues with 7.0 , you can still go back to using the 6.0 version which is still the official stable release.
Be sure to use the feedback option from the Beta messenger and report your issue.
I have seen others complain about your issue so your not the only one.

On your preferences there is an option under General
“Automatically Sign me in when i click a Yahoo! link in Messenger”
Do you have it ticked ? (just to make sure same option)
What cookie level is your browser set at?
go to tools then internet options then check privacy tab on Internet Explorer
Yahoo! Login uses cookies and if you have programs blocking these then it will not login right and default to mail.yahoo.com.
Haven’t seen or heard that before.

Try installing the new Y! Messenger 7
It will install the majority of the audibles.

Seems that alias drop down box only appears if you actually have aliases on the logged in account.
otherwise it will not be there.
as for the searchbar top right…working on it 😛

no not that i can see
nor does putting a word in the top right search bar and presing the button do the search on that word.
guess u will have to log into each alias individual for now

Chat is removed from the UK and Ireland, this we know.
Servers are in the US.
Why have a UK only problem?
Yahoo has a habit of leaving id’s look like they are still signed in…specialy banned id’s…they look like they are signed in all the time in some cases.
sometimes you have people showing as online on pager till you refresh your list and some magically show as offline..
After you uninstall Yahoo messenger go to the program filesdirectory and delete the remaining yahoo! folder.
Reboot
Reinstall messenger from http://messenger.yahoo.com/
You can run Chit chat
you can run Zinc
These 2 programs provide access to yahoo chat on macs.
There are more but the above two are better known ones. (eg: working)
