MemberI had to look this one up, and sure enough, Star Wars Day is official. It’s on Wikipedia, so it must be true! 🙂

MemberThose blanks are normal (assuming you’re running an ad blocker). I was referring to the REALLY BIG HOLE that would’ve been created if the three BIG ads across the top (just below the forum menus) was showing up.
All is well. And thanks for replying.

Go comment… please. 😀

MemberHey Graham, could you please test this and confirm that the “big hole” does not appear (as shown in the screenshot)?

I’m pretty positive these ads are location specific as I was seeing ads for a local TV/Phone/Internet company “Rogers”.. and these ads were HUGE and even had a ‘enlarge’ options too! Holy smokes! Anyway.. even though on Facebook I don’t technically see the ads, the blank hole is still there and THAT is still huge. 🙁
Detn8r, check the attached image. This thread should look like that with NO “blank hole” and the three big ads across the top are gone. There are still other ads (I know… I know…) but I haven’t gone through and added the code to each of those places yet.
Also, I worked on the profile code ALL afternoon (nearly until midnight) and it’s still not done. I ended up ditching the “tabbed” view of the profile in favor of one long page with everything. You can check it by using the BBB-2009-TESTING theme. You’ll notice there are still some “mini” sections down near the bottom. I still need to figure out where to put the profile pic (I’m thinking top right corner of “about me”) and convert the social groups and album sections to “standard” width. And find a place to show the birthday. And then update the sidebar code so that it displays stuff dynamically (ideally). But other than that… it’s close!
At least it displays okay now. As you may recall, it was overlapping or stacking and looked really broken.
Once I get the profile done, I’ll have to take a look at the arcade.
By the way, I was thinking of adding a submenu to the “Forums” menu at the top of the page. We could provide direct links to specific forums, or to recent topics, etc. Any thoughts?

MemberOk, I’ve subscribed to this thread to see if I have the same problem. Hit me with a reply.

MemberI’m curious, but cheap. The samples that it gave me were not too informative, and I haven’t wanted to pay to check out everyone.
Anyone give this a try?
Fanatic
MemberThere must be money in it, though it seems like a rather desperate way to get business.

MemberHow long are they taking? Do you want to do a test? Anyone else interested in helping test?

MemberOkay, I’ve added some code so that as long as you’re signed in, you don’t see the big block of ads across the top of the forums. That’s not the final solution, but I think you’ll agree it is an improvement.
I’m digging into the problems I’ve had with the other code, and will be attempting to get the new style finished today. Keep your fingers crossed!

MemberHey Bill, thanks for stopping by again. 😉
We’re doing some testing right now, but REST ASSURED, they will not stay the way they are. In fact, those who are logged in will have a MUCH cleaner experience (read=very few ads).
Yes, it pays to sign-in! 🙂
