MemberI’ll be reinstalling Windows 98SE on a spare computer later today. If I manage to also get the floppy drive working (it probably has to be replaced) I can transfer the WAV files to a computer with an internet connection and send them to you.
Drop me an email if you want so I can get the WAV files you’re looking for.FrutZle
Memberif you have someone’s IP address and bad intentions, you could try to get into that person’s computer and mess with their stuff. I’m sure nobody has to tell you that it’s illegal to gain access to any computer without permission, and most people won’t do anything with IP addresses, if they even know what they are for.

MemberI’d go with http://www.godaddy.com which has really good prices for domain registrations and is easy to use. I use it for my domains too.

MemberUsing MSN Messenger you can have more than one person viewing your cam at the same time, just as long as they are each in their seperate chat window. I’ve tried it and know it works.
Also, unless I’m mistaken there’s some kind of chat feature embedded in the web interface of the TrackerCam software. I haven’t installed or tried the software yet though since I don’t have a TrackerPod (yet?)…

MemberFor Windows XP you can remove .NET passports by going to Start > Control Panel > User Accounts.
Then click on the user account for which you want to remove a .NET Passport.
On the next screen click on “Manage my network passwords” and a pop-up will appear with the passports that’ve been used with that account.
Click the passport that you want to remove and then click the “Remove” button.FrutZle
MemberAs far as I know, Windows Messenger doesn’t display any ads unless you have the MSN Messenger plugin turned on. Maybe there is an ad remover for that too, but I always turn off the MSN Messenger plugin unless I really need it (to view profiles or check my mail)

MemberSomething you might like is TrackerCam which is a webcam stand that allows panning, tilting and zooming (up to 300%) through a web interface. The software has an HTTP server built in so you go to a pre-set URL and from there you can check all through the room 🙂
I believe it also allows for audio to be broadcast, and you can restrict access to view the cam using a username and password so not everyone can take a look. Not cheap, but for surveilance it looks like a great “gadget”.
fixed the URL tag

MemberDefinition of the word hacker according to the New Oxford Dictionary of English:
a person who uses computers to gain unauthorized access to dataI recently saw part of a documentary about hackers, where old hackers called the new kind of hackers (a.k.a. script kiddies, or what I call a-holes) crackers. Hackers are, according to that documentary, people who use their skills to find security flaws and report them to companies so they can increase security. They are often hired by security companies (or even government agencies) nowadays because of their “outside” or “real life” knowledge of how hackers work.
Crackers on the other hand are people who hack into computers for their reputation or criminal purposes (hACKER + CRiminal = cracker). The people who “hack” forums, to name just one thing, usually don’t know anything about security but use holes in security that’ve been posted on public forums like bugtrack (I might’ve miss-spelled that name). They also tend to “deface” websites such as that of the RIAA which you undoubtedly have heard of happening.
I think what ShadowSlayer469 and DJHyperbyte said is therefore right. It’s a matter of what they do, and what you call them (hacker, or cracker).
By the way, Oxford Press won’t change the definition of hacker to what I explained above, nor add cracker and its definition to the Nex Oxford Dictionary of English because they say it’ll confuse people. However, hacker is now associated with criminal activities while it really shouldn’t.

MemberQuote:quote:Originally posted by LanaAs for reporting your post. I’m not quite sure how to do that….
Take a look at the forums’ homepage (https://bigblueball.com/forums/default.asp) for the profiles of the moderators of this forum. In their profiles you should be able to find the option to email them.

MemberI like the option to change the color of the chat windows… they just didn’t do a very good job at the way it works since all colors turn out way too light [v]

MemberLooks like they reply with a standard email. Still, at least they say they’re going to do something with the suggestions 🙂

MemberTry going to Tools > Options and there go to the Privacy tab. There should be a checkbox for “This is a shared computer so don’t display my tabs”. Check that and your tabs should be gone after exiting and restarting MSN Messenger 🙂

MemberMSN is on all the time, whether I’m at work or at home. I turn Yahoo on only when there’s nobody on MSN or if I want to have a webcam chat with my girl (we can’t have both our cams on using MSN, so I turn mine on on Yahoo and she has hers on on MSN).

MemberThe promised webcam feature for Yahoo IM never worked. It was a bug in Pro 1.x, and it took them a year to fix it. Aside from the webcam feature, I couldn’t think of any reason not to stick with the free version.
I’m probably wrong, but as far as I know, bugs are fixed with patches, not just with new releases/versions. As far as I’m concerned I’m done with Trillian. I’ve already got the seperate programs downloaded again and will stick with them. At least then I’m sure it’ll all work the way things are supposed to work, and I won’t have to pay anything either. -
