MemberWhat webcam did you get?
Which OS are you using?
Have you tried using the software that came with the webcam to make sure the webcam is installed and connected properly (for Logitech webcams that’d be “ImageStudio”)?
Have you tried using Yahoo Messenger or MSN Messenger 6 to have a webcam conversation with someone?FrutZle
MemberHave you tried running the Audio/Video Tuning Wizard in the Tools menu? I believe that’s where I selected the webcam to use in MSN Messenger 6 (I have two webcams)

MemberHave you checked the Tools > Options > Privacy tab to make sure “This is a shared computer so don’t display my tabs” is unchecked?

Memberhave you tried logging in with the same username/password on another computer to make sure it’s your computer that’s causing the problem?

Memberif you don’t have any firewall software installed and aren’t using a proxy connection, you should be able to start voice chats without any problems. Since your boyfriend does have firewall software installed, it is possible that that’s causing the problems he is having. Has he tried starting a voice chat with his firewall software turned off?
Can you two share files with eachother through MSN Messenger?

MemberIt seems that somehow the cam isn’t installed correctly for it to work with MSN Messenger 6.
What you could try, if you feel up to it, is to uninstall the webcam software and the webcam itself and then reinstalling the webcam. Let Windows use the older files once and see if the webcam will then work for you. If it doesn’t make any change, at least you know it’s not because of a problem during installation. Also make sure you have the latest DirectX version for your version of Windows installed (http://www.microsoft.com/directx/), as well as the latest webcam software from logitech (http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm?page=downloads/software&CRID=1794&contentid=6361&OSID=5&countryid=12&languageid=1)

MemberI guess a little mirror to stick on your monitor won’t work 😉
When you run the Web Camera Settings option (Tools > Web Camera Options) does it show the webcam’s images correctly, or is the image black there too? The same question goes for when you try the Audio/Video Tuning Wizard.FrutZle
MemberCool. Thanks for the info Jeff 🙂

MemberAs far as I know normally the sizes are 640×480 or 320×240… maybe you have a widescreen webcam 😉
I’d made a stupid mistake in one of the two sizes, sorry

Memberis there anything known about when it’s supposed to be released?

Memberit’s been doing that to a lot of people on my contact list (and me for that matter) lately… maybe a bug in MSN Messenger 6?
FrutZle
Memberhave you tested the webcam with other programs? if so, what were the results?
can you view other peoples’ webcams?FrutZle
MemberSounds like a nice option that should indeed be a feature of MSN Messenger, but it’s not important enough for me to pay for it. Also, if someone really wants to tell me something, they’ll either email or call me, using AutoMessenger doesn’t sound like it’s any faster than getting an email…

MemberI hope this’ll work…
