MemberThe Best setting to use with messenger is No Proxies. Change your connection setting to that and try to connect. If it is still slow connecting then try this setting: Firewall with no Proxies. If this still does not work then I’m not sure what the problem could be.

MemberYes this is a booter issue. There are many booter programs out there that use up to 10, 20 or even 30 yahoo ID’s to send IM boot codes, cam view rejections, cam invites, chat invites, etc. Some of these programs allow each ID to send 1000 or more of each within minutes. The best advice I could give you is do what Oreo said and change your privacy settings. You also might want to download Y!Tunnel or update your Yahoo Messenger. If you download the newest version of Messenger your chances of having the same problem should be minimal.

MemberTechnically you should have no problems with or without Microsoft Works installed on your computer. And since you have already uninstalled Messenger and re-installed it, I would be willing to bet there is a more serious underlying Operating System problem. You might want to run a System File Check, make sure none of your drivers are corrupt, possible run scandisk, and defragment your hard drive. But in either case it sounds like the problem has to do with the operating system and not yahoo messenger.

MemberNot that I’m aware of.

MemberI have yet to have one single problem with the new version 5.6. Which seems quite odd to me as I have had problems with Yahoo Messenger since I first downloaded it.

MemberOk well I stand corrected on the domain registration fees. It’s been a while since I price shopped for a domain name online. That was however the price to register a domain name at some point in recent past. I’m glad to see that the price has been steadily decreasing. This shows progress on the world wide web.

MemberGreat poem Jessica, very touching. As for Indy Tone what does assasinating Saddam have to do with Jessica’s poem?

MemberSo basically if you can’t use proper grammer, punctuation, or spelling, find another forum to post in, or go back to school and re-take that english class that you failed in high school. Use common sense when posting, i.e. if you don’t think someone will understand what you are saying, maybe you should elaborate on the subject a little bit, or provide more specifics. For those with NO common sense this post just went right over your head.

MemberQuote:quote:pretty good site, but i have a recommendation as a web designer. keep in mind this is only my suggestion, my opinion, whatever. the links on your site are set to expand to 120% of the original text (i checked your stylesheet)… this makes it really hard to get to some of the links, mostly the long ones that then wordwrap to the next line. mainly on the side navigation bar… or under the “new authors needed” news post. it jumps to the next line, meaning your cursor isnt over a link anymore. so you move the mouse to get to where the link is now, and it jumps back to its original position…Thanks TigerBlade for the input on my site. I did notice that when I changed the style sheet, but just never got around to changing it back. I have it fixed now, and I appreciate any constructive critisism I can get. After all I’d like the site to look good and be easy to navigate.
To answer your question BrdMc3 on the free domain name. Some web hosts offer free domains when you pay for a certain level of hosting from them. It costs around $120(approx) a year to register a domain name. And what they do in that case is pay for the registration for you, provided that you pay for a certain level of service. Also usually they only pay for the first year of registration, I don’t believe they pay anything other than the cost to register the domain name for the first year, as it is an annual registration to keep the domain.
For those that are looking to learn HTML, or webdesign, there are several websites that offer free tutorials, and help. Whether you know nothing about HTML or are an advanced webdesigner there’s something out there for you.
http://htmlgoodies.com
This is a good site for tutorials on html, and the site I used when I was learning.
http://hotwired.lycos.com/webmonkey/
http://www.htmlhelp.com
http://webreference.com
Do a simple search on google’s search engine for “html tutorials” and you will get a large list so you can decide for yourself which tutorials to use.The way I learned HTML was with a HTML 4.0 book and windows notepad. If you really want to learn the HTML code language and retain it, I suggest putting down your nice webpage builders like: FrontPage, and sit down and work with the actual code. Once you get some practice, it won’t be much more difficult than writing a post on this bulletin board.
Also here’s another tip: copy, and paste makes inserting code into your page alot easier.

MemberEzula is classified as a data miner and is spyware. If you are smart you will run adaware and remove it from your system. If you run any file sharing programs you will have these on your system quite often. My suggestion is to run a regular scan with adaware, and if using a file sharing program to eliminate the spyware you will need to remove the file sharing program as it will keep adding the spyware to your system. Also please note if you are using Kazaa Media Desktop, and remove the spyware, you will no longer be able to run the Kazaa program.

MemberOk, That’s a tough one there, I voted for The Matrix. I don’t know how many times I saw that movie, at least a dozen or more times. Truelly an astounding movie. The sequel was very good as well, but not quite as good as the first. LOTR 1 & 2 were both very good movies as well, but however I guess you could say I’m more a Matrix fan than a LOTR fan. At any rate it was a difficult decision.

MemberI have found that Geocities and tripod are just substandard as far as free hosting sites go. I did some searching and the host I am currently using allows you to do a large range of things, and supports a ton of options and styles for FREE. There are a few very good free hosting providers out there, but geocities and tripod are not in that category. They work fine if all you want to do is host some family pictures or just put up some basic pages. However if you want to do more with your site, you either need to pay for the service, or find a better host. here’s the link for my host, and my site.
My Host
http://netfirms.comMy Site
http://hellsfury25m.netfirms.comNow mind you this host is not for the newbie to html. You need to have a good knowledge of html, and cgi, ssi, and many others to take full advantage of all they have to offer on just their free plan. But there are plenty of websites out there offering tutorials in html, javascript, cgi scripts, you name it and there is probably a tutorial for it, or a website.

MemberI am using Messenger 5.6 and have no problems receiving my offline messages. As a matter of fact I have had no problems with 5.6. What are the bugs in 5.6?

MemberOkay well here’s my opinion on the matter. First off if Chet had broke the TOS, I think that by now Yahoo! would have done something about it (which they have not). Ytunnel doesn’t remove the ads from messenger right off the bat. The user of Ytunnel selects “remove ads from chat rooms” from the Ytunnel preferences. This in of itself does not break the TOS, until the User decides to remove the ads, then the TOS is broken. The fact that Yahoo! has done nothing to Freddy for his Ad Remover just shows how much Yahoo! really cares. I can offer some insite as to why they don’t care. The following is conjecture and speculation, and is not backed up by any facts:
- How many people use Yahoo!’s services? My estimation is somewhere in the millions
- Out of those several Millions of Users, how many use Messenger? Probably a good percentage…say 75%?
- And out of that percentage (whatever it is) how many users remove the ads on messenger? Lets just say several thousand.
- Ok, so if you only have several thousand users out of many million users who remove the ads from messenger, then the vast majority of users still have the ads in their messenger, and Yahoo! gets its justification from those users.
However if more and more people remove the ads from messenger then Yahoo! might do something about it. But, personally I don’t see that happening, as Yahoo! has much more important things to deal with.
Now as to why use Ytunnel? I’ve used it for quite sometime, and I think it has some interesting features, aside from boot protection. Now as far as boot protection goes, Ytunnel works fairly well in my opinion. There will be nothing that can offer 100% boot protection until Yahoo! decides to fix the coding of their software. As for the people signing this petition to oust Chet and Ytunnel. I don’t see anything coming of this, unless Yahoo! does something or someone files a lawsuit against Chet. I say if you don’t like Chet or Ytunnel, quite simply don’t use it.

MemberThis just goes to show why you do not want to delete anything off of your system, unless you are absolutely sure you know what you are doing. This is what I tell people who know nothing or very little, when they ask about a system file or setting. “If you don’t know what it is, don’t mess with it.” Now if they want to learn about the system or setting, that is another story, but just don’t delete something because you just might end up with the problem above.
