VvWolverinevVParticipant
I could have sworn some of the changes were not configurable, but it was a while ago, so I could be wrong 🙂
VvWolverinevVParticipantYeah, but the last time I tried Ad Hack, it did a lot of other things I didn’t want. I can’t remember now exactly what those things were.
VvWolverinevVParticipantOpen Windows Explorer and navigate to C:Program FilesAIM6servicesimAppvercontent,
where will be a number equal to the version of AIM you have installed.
VvWolverinevVParticipantHi jessica27, and welcome to BBB.
The first step is to find uiPluginGadgets.box. The next step is to simply rename the file (or delete it, but renaming is more reversible). After that, restart AIM and *voila* no more plugin buttons!
VvWolverinevVParticipantI was lucky enough to score a free year subscription to NOD32 Antivirus to use on my Windows 7 Release Candidate. So far, I am pretty happy with it. It is lightweight, and scans are fast. But I haven’t seen anything other than the lack of advertisements that puts it much above Avira and Avast’s free solutions.
VvWolverinevVParticipantHuh? Who said anything about YM 10?!
VvWolverinevVParticipantYes, that is precisely the docking I am talking about in my last post.
VvWolverinevVParticipantYou sure can disable buddy list docking. In AIM 6.9.15.1, Click Edit>Settings… Then click the Buddy List tab, and under Buddy List Display, uncheck the box next to “Buddy List window can be ‘docked’ on left or right of desktop”. Finally, click “Save” at the bottom of the settings window.
VvWolverinevVParticipantHi, 7Kings, and welcome to BBB 🙂 This was a hot topic when AIM 6 was still called AIM Triton, and one of our members came up with a solution:
dobalu;202583 wrote:To stop the Active Update without having to stop using AIM Triton, I deleted stic.dll. That annoying pop-up hasn’t come up for me in over 5 days, and nothing seems to be working wrong. And another member recently suggested the folder where that file is located in AIM 6:
CDsDontBurn;239524 wrote:if AIM was intalled to it’s default directory, which it should be anyways, stic.dll will be located in this directory:C:Program FilesAIM6servicessoftwareUpdate
As always, when deleting or modifying application files, it is a good idea to backup those files first. For example, in this case, I would simply rename stic.dll to stic.dll.bak rather than deleting it. Please let us know if this solution works for you. Thanks!
June 21, 2009 at 12:42 pm in reply to: active update-aol core services – software update -Is this from AIM? #140307VvWolverinevVParticipantThanks for the update, CDsDontBurn! Can anyone else confirm that this solution is still valid in AIM 6?
VvWolverinevVParticipantThere should be a mini version of your buddy icon there automatically, perhaps after exchanging a few test IMs with your own screen name.
VvWolverinevVParticipantGreat! And thanks for the update. Again, I recommend backing up your buddy list with the plugin I linked in my previous post; your post scared me enough that I did a backup myself yesterday :p
Other than that, have a look around the site. If you’re into IM, there’s always something to learn or contribute here 🙂
VvWolverinevVParticipantHi, Briankelly130, and welcome to BBB!
Unfortunately, it appears that your issue does occur to a small percentage of screen names without warning or reason 🙁 It was reported about 3 years ago on our forum here: https://bigblueball.com/forums/aim-support/35171-aim-deleted-my-buddylist.html
You might try the advice given by one of the answerers here to add a buddy or two and check back the next day. Good luck, and please let us know what happens.
For those who still have their buddy list, it’s not a bad idea to back up your buddy list with the Buddy List Operations plugin, to avoid losing all of your contacts through no fault of your own like this.
VvWolverinevVParticipantI haven’t seen you online for a while. Did you change your privacy settings? Also, how do I view the mobile version of the site? I haven’t seen it since the new look.
