I second AVG Free. From an excellent guide for virus removal:

VvWolverinevVParticipantThis is a question I have always had. I would also like to mirror my main screen name’s away message on my other screen names. Does anyone know if this is possible in version 6.5? If so, how?
VvWolverinevVParticipantHe is probably using a phone with AIM software built into it. Rather than receiving IMs as text messages, his phone software would actually act like any other AIM client, allowing him to send and receive IMs in real time.
VvWolverinevVParticipantGamespot takes game rating really seriously. You pretty much can’t go wrong with one of their “editors’ choice” games. 😀
From my experience, I can say that RE4 for PS2 was definitely fun to play, and Super Monkey Ball is a great party game. But, don’t you just wanna blow stuff up on XBox 360 with Gears of War… :p

Sure, it’s memorable, but all I’ll remember is a gorilla and a drumset. There’s nothing in the commercial to associate it with candy bars, so they’re out of luck next time that commercial comes up in my head.Except that it was good enough that we’re now discussing it in its own forum topic with full attention to the candy bar it intends to promote… :p
VvWolverinevVParticipantChalala, there are two ways I know of for someone to remotely view your entire screen.
The first, Remote Assistance, is built into Windows XP. You can disable it via System Properties under the Remote tab.
The second is through Virtual Network Computing (VNC). The way I’ve seen it used, some VNC software is installed on the computer to be monitored (your computer) and then accessed from a remote computer via some permissions set locally. I’m fairly certain that some software must be installed and running on your machine in order for someone to be able to see the whole screen.
You should look into getting rid of remote access to your computer right away, because both of these methods also allow complete control of your machine (think viruses, bank accounts, etc.) Good luck, and let us know what you find.

Happened in voice conference invites as well…I really can’t see any purpose in it truthfully. But I gave up on the Beta due to some conflicts with releasing sound profiles reliably and downgraded again for the time being. I’m going to wait a little while until I give this another shot.
-Doris-Careful, patndoris. I did the same thing, but I noticed that after downgrading, when I signed on with a profile other than my primary, all of my inactive profiles appeared online. Every time I signed on, I had to activate and then deactivate my inactive profiles in order for them to appear offline. You may experience the same problem, and there may be other problems with downgrading after installing the beta. The easiest solution for me was to reinstall the buggy, unimpressive beta 🙁
VvWolverinevVParticipantIt sounds like the location of the smileys you’re talking about is dependent on the customization you have installed. I believe standard smiley sets in AIM 5.9 are retrieved from the AIM servers on the fly, so there’s no standard AIM folder for storing them.
It is also possible that your coworker’s client only has modified default smileys that appear different on their client, but not anyone else’s. If your coworker sends you one of their custom smileys, and it looks different on your client, this is probably what’s happening. In that case, the smileys are actually embedded in the file AimRes.dll. Unless you are pretty good with coding, your best bet is to try to find a copy of the customization program that your coworker has.
From Jon8RFC’s AimRes.dll, Buddyui.ocm, icbmui.ocm HOWTO for AIM :Jon8RFC wrote:1004-1013AIM 5.5.3501+ = smiley set images…editing these will NOT change smiley sets that other people see, this is ONLY for regular smiley sets you see when using default smilies and when people send you default smilies…if you want a different set of REAL smilies…(broken link)
VvWolverinevVParticipantI think that offer is just for the last version of M:M for AIM Classic that they released (not compatible with AIM 6) 🙁
VvWolverinevVParticipantOh cool, Jeff! I’d never heard it called the “Digg effect” before, haha. I guess I can believe it now 😀

VvWolverinevVParticipantNah, don’t expand. I have a feeling there will be some sacrifice in the attention that IM gets if you do this. You’re doing a good job with IM so far; just keep it that way.
If you feel a need to expand, stick to things related to online socialization.
(my 2 cents) 😎

It’s generally recognized among people who know that AVG free and Zonealarm are better choices 😉

VvWolverinevVParticipantMessenger:Mate was incredible. I can only guess this will be just as good.
