“Note: This is ONLY to be used to report spam, advertising messages, and problematic (harassment, fighting, or rude) posts.”
Is this not true? For example, poor writing and incorrect information do not meet any of these criteria.
VvWolverinevVParticipant1. Guilty as charged for necro-ing this thread.
2. Correct, my avatar does rock.
3. And technically, I posted at 9:25 Pacific Time on the 20th, but happy birthday anyway, PolarBearNPR 😀VvWolverinevVParticipantTrue, but you can definitely imagine posts that are allowed but don’t contribute anything. I doubt Jeff wants a PM every time that happens…
VvWolverinevVParticipantRaymond Day, welcome to BBB! Next time you have a different problem than the original poster, please create a new thread (especially if the original post was years ago) :p
With regard to your problem, are you in fact signed into AOL and AIM from the same location? What versions of each are you running, and what is your connection to the internet (dialup, DSL, cable)?
VvWolverinevVParticipantThe issue here is most likely with your friend’s audio input settings. Have her go to AIM’s “Edit>Settings>Enhanced IM>Audio & Video” and make sure that “Use this microphone for Audio and Video sessions” is set to the correct device. You may also want to make sure that “Use these speakers for Audio and Video sessions” is set to the correct device for your computer. Let us know if this helps.
I have a sound card driver that switches the audio input device to the default every time I switch applications (so I have to manually change it back every time). If your friend has an after market sound card, she should consult documentation for the associated driver. If not, there is one more thing that may solve the problem. From Windows “Control Panel>Hardware and Sound>Sound”, have your friend click on the “Recording” tab and make sure that the correct microphone is set as default. Then have her select the default microphone and click “Properties.” Click on the “Levels” tab and make sure the microphone level is not too low (default is 100).
Good luck and write back! 😀

Then a list of alternate clients with the same set of info
All of that less the subjective ratings is available here:

November 27, 2007 at 6:49 am in reply to: The Right Brain vs Left Brain test … do you see the dancer turning clockwise or ant #165317VvWolverinevVParticipantI’m somewhat skeptical about the results 😀 I tried really hard to see it spinning CCW, but I can only see CW. Here’s the kicker: I’m a scientist and I’m right-handed.
Then again, I fold my hands with my left thumb on top, I focus with my left eye, and if you push me back, I stop my fall with my left foot (which all point to right brain dominance).
P.S. I see nipples :woot:
VvWolverinevVParticipantBut what is the goal really? When you expand boundlessly, you lose your specialization in IM and become an all-encompassing tech forum; now you’re competing with TechSpot, etc. which will probably win. A relatively small forum community is also not necessarily a terrible thing. I prefer to post here over TechSpot for exactly that reason. Posting here is often like dialogue at a town meeting, while posting on TS is more like shouting your feelings in the middle of Times Square.
November 24, 2007 at 8:30 pm in reply to: Please BE CAREFUL about opening attachments in WLM #164980VvWolverinevVParticipantDoes this virus infect your computer without you even opening the archive? This is painfully reminiscent of Microsoft’s other failure: Internet Explorer 6 🙁
VvWolverinevVParticipantWow, I must admit that is odd. The only other thing I can think is that you make sure you are logged into aim.com with the screen name that is displaying LJ updates. It is possible to be logged into aim.com and an AIM client with two different screen names.
VvWolverinevVParticipantDid you add your LJ site by typing the entire URL under “Pick Your own Sites”, or did you check the box next to Livejournal and enter your user ID?
In the former case, the site should be listed to the right of the field that says “Add an RSS URL” with a hyperlink to delete the site from the list. In the latter case, just uncheck the box next to “Livejournal,” and confirm deletion.
If you are still having trouble, a screenshot of how that page looks for you would be helpful 🙂
P.S. Welcome to BBB!
VvWolverinevVParticipantOn this topic, does anyone know of phones that will allow you to block messages/calls from certain numbers? I always thought it was odd that the phones I have owned didn’t have this feature.
VvWolverinevVParticipantAnother thread discusses a similar problem:

Yahoo Messenger = “%Windows%SSCVIIHOST.exe”Maybe this will help you. Take care to back up your registry if you do this! I have not tested this solution!
VvWolverinevVParticipantHaha, I just listened to this. PolarbearNPR’s song was entertaining :p Is that it for the podcast, Jeff?
