In order to store last used volume level data, I think you must allow Adobe Flash Player to store some data on your computer.
You probably already know this, but I’m going to explain anyway.
To change the amount of data Adobe Flash Player stores on your computer, do the following:
Step 1 – Context click the Adobe Flash Player YouTube video player on any video, then click the Settings… option.
Step 2 – Click the Local Storage tab.
Step 3 – Make sure the Never Ask Again box is unticked. Drag the slider to 10 KB.
Step 4 – Click the Close button.
If you find the volume level you last used is still not being saved, re-run through the above steps, and on Step 3, drag the slider to an amount greater than 10 KB. Repeat this process until your last used volume level is (Hopefully.) saved.
If that doesn’t work, the Cookies and/or Cache may be the areas where this problem lies.

You’re invitation is on it’s way! I’ve still got some left…
September 12, 2011 at 1:41 am in reply to: Does old account unused for a long time get erased? #177386Jeff HesterKeymasterAccording to this page:
“ICQ is now working on providing a delete feature which will be available in upcoming ICQ versions. Currently, there’s no such functionality. Instead, you can simply remove all content (profile and contacts) except for your email address, which needs to be attached.”
This implies that they don’t delete inactive accounts. As for finding your old account… your best bet is Google and/or the ICQ people directory. Good luck!

A little late…but very nice cases Jeff. 🙂
Thanks, MrOats! And it’s never too late. 😉
Jeff HesterKeymasterI started on Friday, and it finished sometime last night, but I now have over 7,000 songs stored on Google Music! Click the attached image for a screenshot.
Google Music Beta by Jeff Hester, on FlickrAnd I have more invites to share. If you’re interested, leave a comment below.
I realize that it’s still beta, but it works quite well. I’m listening to the stream through my 3G data connection with no hiccups at all. I am surprised that there aren’t any apparent social features built in (like sharing playlists or finding friends who also like a particular artist). With everything that Google has been doing with Google+, I would’ve expected a little more.
But as a music player, it’s great! Now all they need is an iPhone app.

Would very much like to try it out if you still have any.
And done!
Jeff HesterKeymasterIf this helps, here’s a screen shot of what it works like. It works with any client that uses an AIM screen name (so Google Chat should work, Trillian, Adium, Digsby, etc.).
And here are the instructions on how to set it up.
As far as I know, it only works if you use Time Warner Cable as your telephone provider.
Jeff HesterKeymasterI use the Apple magnetic cover. Works great, but doesn’t protect the back. For that I got a DODOcase BookBack.
Jeff HesterKeymasterI would recommend going with an external drive rather than a NAS for performance reasons. You can still share the drive across your network.
What you really need to think about is what you need or want to share. For me, it comes down to music, videos and photos. With iTunes I can share videos and music across any device on my network, including my Apple TV (connected to my home theater), my iPad and iPhone. iPhoto also let’s me share my photos.
I would recommend the WD My Book Studio II. It uses two drives, and you can configure it mirror the content, essentially providing a backup of your backup,
On the Mac, you should also take a look at Arq from Haystack Software. It will automatically backup your Mac to Amazon S3.
Jeff HesterKeymasterI also have that problem using IE9 on Win7.
Jeff HesterKeymasterOf course! As David noted, It’s anyone’s guess what will happen to Twitter and Facebook, but the veritable demise of MySpace shows that a shift can happen to anyone.
In fact, as companies grow to a certain size, innovation often becomes more difficult and sentiment can begin to turn against the incumbent.
I’m curious to hear what you think social media might look like in the future. Ideas?
Jeff HesterKeymasterOkay, I just loaded the Tapatalk app on my iPad to give it a try. I use it on my iPhone, but generally prefer to view the full website, even on my iPad.
But this isn’t bad.

I believe a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY goes out to our fearless leader Jeff today! Have an awesome day!!
Thanks, Doris! I’ll do my best to do it right (so far, so good…).
By the way, does this mean you’ll let me beat you in Scrabble today?
Jeff HesterKeymasterSomehow, Andrew Garcia’s (aka Mr Oats) birthday slipped by last month. I didn’t notice at first, but then I realized I no longer had access to BigBlueBall — he had initiated his plans for total world domination. First step — take over BBB (check).
Next, my measly bank account was drained. (check)
My identity was stolen. (check)
I was forced to panhandle on the streets of San Clemente, scavenging dumpsters for food and recyclable cans and bottles. It was a hard time.
Thankfully, it occurred to me that there may be a way out of the pit of despair I found myself in… perhaps, just maybe, I could redeem myself.
And so, here it is. Happy Belated Birthday, Mr. Oats!

Jeff HesterKeymasterDoris, I actually switched from the unlimited data plan to the metered plan so that I could use the tethering. I did an analysis of my data usage, and I never went over the 20 GB cap on the metered plan. Frankly, the overage charges are reasonable, but I’m monitoring it and so far, don’t expect to go over ever.
Of course, if I used it as my only Internet connection (does anyone do that?) that would be a different matter entirely. But most of my big downloads and streaming I do on my cable Internet connection. When I’m at home, I use wifi rather than 3G.
The personal hotspot rocks!
