In my previous job, we were allowed to use AIM at work, because we used it to communicate between employees. Our managers and supervisors never tracked our conversations.
However, for managers who want to track employee IM use, the company I blog for, Brosix, has a private IM program that allows approving managers to track and monitor employee’s IM use online. For more information, check out Brosix Enterprise Instant Messenger – Secure Corporate Instant Messaging for companies
kelseycMemberYou can also use Digsby (http://www.digsby.com). If you add their widget to your webpage, visitors to your website can chat with you when you are logged into Digsby and online.
kelseycMemberI’m so glad that Brosix was given this awesome honor. The program is so easy to use and the developers are great and deserve to be recognized for all their hard work.
kelseycMemberThat means he is using iChat. If you don’t want your chat logs to be recorded, then axelkan is correct. You need a secure private network. Brosix offers a free instant messaging program where your conversations can’t be followed, since it’s on a secure server. You can download the free version at www. brosix.org (it wouldn’t let me post the link)
If you still want to use your same messaging program, I may not be able to help you. 😀
kelseycMemberhi all, sorry about that! I corrected the address in my original post, but try blog.brosix.com
it was .com, not .org 🙂
kelseycMemberFor my full-time job, I use AIM to chat with co-workers. Since we are all women, it saves a lot more time to just ask a question through IM. We can also have small talk about our weekends, etc. while still working on projects. It saves a lot of time and makes us look better, since we aren’t standing around making chit-chat.
For my part-time job, I am using Brosix- I am a blogger for them and have been experimenting with it. It’s a private instant messaging program that lets companies create their own networks. If you want to learn more about it, you can visit the blog I write at: blog.brosix.com
kelseycMemberYou can try Brosix! The Brosix Public version is free to try, and it offers a secure network on the Brosix servers. Brosix offers group chat, whiteboard for collaborating on ideas, partner web surfing (where 2 users can surf the web together from different computers), and a lot of other cool stuff.

kelseycMemberYou can try Brosix- it’s a secure messaging network that seems to be exactly what you are looking for. There’s a free download if you want to try it out, and then if you decide to go to the corporate version, it charges a rate of user per month.
kelseycMemberYou can try Brosix. It allows your company and employees to be on their own secure network, but it hosted on Brosix’s servers. It’s pretty cheap per user (around $2 per month) and it comes with a lot of extras- whiteboard, chat rooms, etc.
brosix . com
kelseycMemberThe only one I’ve heard of is Brosix- I think there’s an option available to control whether or not users can disable it. Check out their webpage- brosix . com
