MemberWhat version of Gaim are you using? If its 1.5 then i would suggest updating to 2.0beta5. They have fixed numerous problems and it may solve yours.

MemberI've noticed that the sales (I work at a grocery store) of spinach went up when the whole outbreak began. It really makes you wonder if people even knew about it or if they had the mentality of “Its not going to happen to me.”

MemberWhile editing your info you need to press shift and enter at the same time.
I looked to see if there were any plugins to send directories and unfortunately there aren't. So either you will need to get used to sending one file at a time or use AIM.
The only way to direct connec is if the person you are talking to opens the connection. I haven't been able to test it since none of my friends use a messenger other than Google Talk.
I hope this has helped you.
LinuxAddict
MemberFirstly, Gaim has never, to the best of my knowledge, been able to do a direct connect. Secondly, no, there is no way to send a directory. Thirdly, what version of Gaim are you using? When you reply, I'll be able to help you better.

MemberThis topic was created back in 2004. It's now 2006. Use the Gaim IRC channel.

MemberThe spell checker in any of the 2.0 beta versions doesn't work. Try using 1.5.0.
By the way, it doesn't highlight, it adds a small underline to the misspelled word. Similar to the way MS Word does it.
LinuxAddict
MemberFirst of all, why are you using a proxy? Second, what version of GAIM are you running?
If it is 1.5.0 then upgrade to 2.0Beta3.1. That should fix it. GAIM runs fine on my MCE Sp2 laptop and I use 2.0Beta3.1.
I hope this helped.

MemberTry updating GTK+. If that doesn't work then try completely uninstalling Gaim and reinstalling. If that doesn't work then try using 2.0beta3 not 3.1.
LinuxAddict
MemberThe best way to solve your problem would probably be to reinstall Gaim. You could also try updating to Beta 3.1. Even though it is a beta it is still stable and the developers have solved many problems since 1.5.
You can download Gaim here.
LinuxAddict
MemberI will assume you have GAIM 1.5.0. From the main Gaim window, Click on acounts. Select your AIM account and click Modify. In the window that pops up click on “Show more options”. Make sure the the text boxes under AIM/ICQ Options are:
- Auth host: login.oscar.aol.com
- Auth port: 5190
- Proxy type: Use Global Proxy Settings
For the other accounts, double check to make sure the servers and ports are configured right. Modify the accounts to Use Global Proxy Settings.
The Yahoo problem is caused by a missing image file used for login verification, which I can't help you with.
MSN should work. The most likely problem is you are typing the username with out the @ sign in it. If that isn't the problem then I would suggest using v2.0Beta3 located here.
Also, if you are behind a firewall, you need to make sure Gaim is allowed to pass through it.
I hope this helps. 🙂

MemberYou are asking a lot form an open source program. There are minimal plugins for Gaim and the makers of the program would rather you didn't us them unless the it is already included. You can go to Tools > Preferences > Plugins and activate Buddy State Notification. That is only good for when a user goes away and goes idle. There is one on the Gaim plugins page for notifications and its at http://guifications.sourceforge.net/downloads.php. It does popup boxes and the mouse click actions to the boxes. Just remember it needs to be activated from the plugins list in preferences.
Sorry, I can't help you with the insert cd popup. The best I could say is try a reinstall.
I hope this helped. 😉

MemberMicrosoft is allowing users who have bought songs from iTunes to download them free of charge and they are not protected. It isn't available to the public yet because it is going to come out when Microsoft's WiFi portable music player is released.
