The Ymsg protocol is haveing serious issues losing packets especially in the chat rooms.
It starts out with lag then it turns into a lost packet issues
I have found that YCHT protocol isn’t experiencing these issues.
I find this somewhat ironic because all the Yahoo messenger bots are using YCHT.
Perhaps this flakeyness can be contributed to the cross platform merger with the MSN network
But, more than likely its attributed to the total non maintenance of Yahoo chat since the collapse of the User Rooms, and the resulting revenue.

If the user is not in invisible mode you can use the /follow command
In messenger all you have to do is get into a chat room.
ANY CHAT ROOM WILL DO get into any chat room
at the bottom of messenger where you normally type in text to the room type.
“/follow theusernametofollow”
make sure to replace “theusernametofollow” with the Yahoo ID of who u want to follow
make sure that you don’t place a space between the / and the follow. I see this mistake made all the time
Many 3rd party chat clients still have the follow command available. I have a list of them on my site
With the loss of user rooms the the media fiasco, the marginal profit Yahoo messenger made from chat vanished. The have reacted by providing NO support.
The text eating, appears to actually be a server bog down if you watch it behaves herky jerky like you pc does when you are running to many applications at once.
Stage 1 everything is working fine
Stage 2 some lag
Stage 3 some lag with packet loss (lost messages) <text eating
Stage 4 total chat room packet loss < some times called invisible chat
Stage 5 suddenly everything starts working againHere are some notes ancedotal experiences from text “eating” or invisible chat.
People screw with fonts and colors, and occassionally feel like they are sucessful, because of the in out herky jerky, stalling. You may feel like screwing with fonts does fixes problem because sometimes it appears to work. But notice how the problem coorisponds to severe lag
The problem appears to be isolated to YMSG, I’ve not experience the problem in YCHT. I could be wrong but so far I’ve not had the problem using YCHT mode! As of yet I’ve not been able to see if the problem can be isolated to one ymsg server (scs.msg.yahoo.com, scsa.msg.yahoo.com etc.)
I find it ironic that the YMSG stuff is messing up cause all the bots use YCHT mode. The bot overload should affect YCHT 1st. Perhaps this is self inflicted problem Yahoo has.
The main drawback to YCHT mode is you can’t use the /join *g.groupname:1 command to get into group rooms listed on my site
but you can still use the /goto command
I dunno does anyone else have any ideas about this problem?
As long as you are using messenger or another chat client in YMSG mode, you don’t need to enter you chat room in internet java. You can always just enter it like any other chat rooms by entering the following in the main window.
/join *g.insertyourgroupnamehere:1

WHY do you have to use java chat for?
As I stated in other posts yahoo GROUP chat rooms are not limited to use by yahoo java based access.
All of them can be accessed using any chat client with YMSG support its simple.
SO WHY NOT USE MESSENGER FOR THE ROOM?
if your group is
group.yahoo.com/group/somesillygroup
then you can use join the group chat room doing the following
type this in the main messenger chat box while in ANY CHAT ROOM
/join *g.somesillygroup:1
and you’ll get to the room you want. DON’T PUT A SPACE IN FRONT OF THE SLASH
If you are in some other chat client make sure you are using YMSG protocol!

Yahoo multi messenger I guess was a mod of the v6.0 messenger that allowed multiple instances of messenger. I gather no one has done the same for v7.0?
I mean in multiple instances of yahoo chat are a goal one should seriously consider using one of those free 3rd party chat clients?
Under preferences you can adjust the time vs. quality ratio on your webcam image.
Better Quality means slower update perhaps the new default for the new messenger was different than what you preferred.
Additionally you are give access to the cam’s own options in the webcam preference settings…settings like zoom
Another TIP when for joining group rooms (once they have people in them) is using the join command. There are a few hitches.

Here is the break down
/join <—- standard join command
*g. <
prefix for all the group chat rooms
unity_and_tolerance <
the actual yahoo group room
:1 <
standard suffix for all yahoo chat rooms these days
Additional Notes
If you are entering these rooms with a chat client, the /join command for group rooms only works in YMSG mode
but you can enter the group room in YCHT mode if you use the /goto or /follow command (I dunno beats me)
You do not have to be a member to join a room with this command, but do have to be a member to create one of these rooms once it falls apart

I found that rooms like this are where many girls went to after the user room shut down.
Guess what you can now create user rooms again but yahoo won’t list them.
For example if you start use the “/join parrothead” command you will enter “parrothead:1” room. Others can enter this room with out invite via the “/join” command. The bad side is they aren’t listed so others don’t know such a room exists.
I also noticed that Yaheh doesn’t allow you to enter these rooms!

People often assume u should already know to type in command on the run line. Then an old dos like command window will open up so u can execute nestate and view the results.

A polite correction of the issues and discussion of the issues is what is needed. Many are being intentionally left in the dark about booting on yahoo and come up with boot code rumors to fill the information void. Since this thread is googling very high for people who are wanting information about booting.
It might be a good idea to keep it going.
The original thread is a couple months old so we are extending its useful life.My intentions are to help folks with booting and the user room shutdown.
I thought that might be case for why booters can log in 100’s of different profiles with the server thing.
I still feel like yaheh and yahelite look and feel similar, sorry I am entitled to my own opinion.
I hope someone can confirm my observation that more than 4 chat profiles can be logged on in a room, but if you get them in the same room the will be banned. (Witness room Flooding isn’t occuring anymore)
I here about all of these complicated solutions for booting my orientation is for common people with average computer knowledge to avoid it. Notice that I did point on my webpage that yahelite is argueably MORE boot resistant than yaheh.
But from my experience the yaheh dual login, combined with the changeup case lettered profile login, and the quick relogin becomes more frustrating for booters because unless you tell them u are booted, they never really know you are booted. Profile status on their booters for ymsg login say your booted but u are still chatting in the room, or you are back in the room in 10 seconds. If a booter boots and boots and boots and only succeeds in getting 5 second pauses in the chat room he gives up, or expends his bots.
Thanks for all the input, and please keep this thread alive, booting may always be available, but if it is only for the tech savy it will be far better than some 13 yo sexually frustrated punk booting grown ups, with a program he got off a hacker site.
Dermont is probably right about yaheh/yahelite open source thing (i jumped to a stupid conclusion), they have a similar look and feel (I will make sure to correct that)
Dermont is correct about y tunnel not really being a chat client…it is in fact a tunnel program (I will correct both errors), I’m orienting my information toward the generally more stupid than me (hard to believe). Getting too tech causes them problems.
Dermont is right about the yahelite thing being free. I mistook the big donation screen as a request for cash, its not. (I will correct that error).
I am probably not as technically knowledgable about this, but I beg to differ about the protocol thing. I have seen messenger bombed with open windows till it became unresponsive in the task manager window. The chat protocol may have already been booted but ymessy was definetly crashed as a program too.
Additionally, Unless there is something I am missing Yazak supports ymsg, ycht, and chat2, protocols (even says its logging into them while using yazak!). I may be crazy but everything I read says that yazak supports those protocols as well. Here’s some more infromation to back by claim http://www.helpbytes.co.uk/clients.php , yazak is in a state of prepetual upgrade, perhaps we are thinking of an older version?
I appreciate your input and would be glad to add any advice that you would be willing to impart to those that seek to no longer to be harrassed. The sooner people on yahoo get wise to how to stop being booted, the sooner the children that engage in this play will move on to other mischef.

Honestly I can and do frequently run as many as 6 ids in chat rooms on yaheh. I have had as many as 20 profiles online 3 different pcs on same ip, at once in yaheh, perhaps you should try to see if it is possible before you say it can’t be done. I’m not a code warrior so I can’t tell you how exactly I get away with it.
ALTHOUGH, LOGGING INTO ONE ROOM WITH MORE THAN 4 PROFILES WILL GET IDS banned, but if you keep them in seperate rooms you’ll fair just fine. Hey I’m not making it up I’m too stupid to do that.
If someone could not login on more than 4 profiles then how does booter software login hundreds of profiles? I’m not claiming to be code savy just know enough to be dangerous.
