MemberI don’t think I have the latest version – I used the same installation file I used on 2 other pcs on the network a couple of weeks ago, unless it pulls the latest version from the internet when it installs of course?
http://www.neilogden.co.uk/messenger-contacts.htm is what I’m getting.

MemberI had a feeling it was old news and I think I may have asked the question some time ago on this forum even. I am still using MSN Messenger 7.5 with MSN Messenger Plus which I have been using successfully for nearly two years. The story I was told was specifically about Windows Live Plus for Windows Live Messenger which is why I asked again.
I will be upgrading in the not too distant future probably!

MemberIf you install MSN Messenger Plus, you will find it allows you to log all conversations and it saves them as text files. Very good for seeing conversations in an easier format than the normal XLM file of history.

MemberLooks as if it was a fault and MSN have now repaired this facility. UK users can now send and receive text messages via MSN and it works well. Excellent :0)

MemberYou have to buy credit in advance to send a text message from MSN to a mobile – it works out at about 10p so about the same as sending from a phone. The same goes for sending a text from a mobile to MSN. You can buy credit in varying amounts, but of course in the UK at the moment, that particular feature is not working/has been withdrawn/was never there (depending on which technical support person replies to your question!

MemberI replied to my previous email from MSN saying basically all I put in my previous post about no notice of the withdrawing of the service, it was all Ok until last week etc. and I got the following back…
“Neil, I understand that you are unable to add a UK contact on MSN Messenger’s Mobile Messaging feature. After studying your concern, it was determined that the issue is better addressed by our Product Specialist Team. I already informed the Team of your concern.
The Team will investigate and identify the possible causes of the issue. Once a cause is determined, solutions will be developed and tested to ensure that the solution will not cause other concerns. I cannot commit to a specific time frame as to when a solution will be released though.
Resolving this is our top priority. Thank you for bearing with us while we work to resolve your issue. “
… which leaves me totally confused and feeling like one person doesn’t know what the other’s saying. Your guess is as good as mine as to what is going on but thanks for your thoughts.

MemberOk, I’ve had a reply from MSN support that reads as follows:
“We appreciate your feedback. Unfortunately, that feature is no longer available with MSN Messenger. We forwarded your suggestion to the product team that carefully reviews these suggestions and considers them for future releases.
You are valuable at MSN and we look forward to providing you with consistent and effective service. If you have any other inquiries, please do not hesitate to write back or you may opt to visit our online help located at http://messenger.msn.com/help. “
which really is not much help. The feature was there until about a week ago and you can still send messages to mobile numbers that were added before last week – just not add new ones for the UK. They don;t really answer why it was withdrawn and I am very annoyef about it. Their reply makes it sound as if it never existed!
I have replied and asked them more questions, but I guess the situation is at the moment if you have mobile numbers in the UK, use them, and don’t delete them otherwise you won’t be able to get them back!!

MemberYou have to select a country through otherwise the NEXT option doesn’t appear.
The UK was on the list before when I originally added the numbers and all the numbers came up as +44 and then the number so effectively it’s an international call – although the cost isn;t any more of course.
Very strange, but at least I know I’m not the only one. Annoying too. I accidentally removed one of my contact’s mobile number who I text quite a lot and now I can’t put it back!
I have submitted a support request to MSN.
