oldfellaMemberIf your computer is an older model, you may need to update/upgrade its BIOS – it worked for me. If it is a Dell, go here: http://delltalk.us.dell.com/supportforums

oldfellaMemberOK – Listen-up. I have been trying to re-install MSN Messenger for the past 5 months without success. Then I remembered about Ad-Watch giving me problems before, not letting certain registry modifiers pass through, so I temporarily closed the automatic setting and proceeded to download the Messenger. A lot of registry entries came across and took a chance to allow the to come in, then a window appeared asking me if I wanted to “repair” or uninstall – I told it to repair. It continued on passing a few registry entries and lo and behold the MSN Messenger in it’s fully glory appeared… I hope this is it!
oldfellaMember…As I have said before – some fixes work for some, some not at all; I have been trying to fix that problem for the past four months – tried all of the fixes here and the ones suggested by the Big Guys at Microsoft… nothing has worked for me.
oldfellaMemberEmail sent… but I must tell you, I am a bit skeptical because I’ve tried just about everything for the past four (4) months without success; some “fixes” work for some people, but it hasn’t been the case for me. Thanks.

oldfellaMemberMr. Heavy – Yours sound like a logical solution, since the file in question is the one causing the hang-up (it’s in my case), the problem is/has been that I do not have that file in my system… back to square one. Thanks, anyway.
oldfellaMemberI have been trying for couple of months to install MSN Messenger; have tried {b]all[/b] suggestions posted here, other boards, and even suggestions/instructions from the MSN Messenger (Microsoft) gurus themselves… they even brought in the big guns (bigger shots) but could not pin-point the problem nor the solution…. I gave-up in disgust! 😡
oldfellaMemberDang… it didn’t work for me! 🙁
oldfellaMemberIf the post count goes back to zero, it’ll be a blow to the old members, but good for me… as a newbie I’ll catch up :D:D:D
oldfellaMemberWell, I must be among those who can’t get it up (MSN Msgr) no matter what I try. I wrote MSN Msgr Support 3 times; twice they gave me instructions similar to those throughout this board… I even asked for hands-on “remote assistance” by the Support people – nothing is happening yet. I think MSN Msgr folks made big boo-boo somewhere along the line and are trying frantically to come up with a fix… but not admitting their shortcomings, as usual. I suspect some very smart techie will come up with the correct answer and MSN will take credit for it. Good luck, you all.
