MemberI actually just tried to have them both at once and I couldn’t get it to work. AIM 5.5 opened originally, but after I closed it once all I could get to open was 5.2. you might be able to figure it out if you work with it for a while. there were no errors that showed up.

Memberclone? I thought the whole point of 5.5 was multiple sn capablities? besides, you wouldn’t have more spyware. The spyware on 5.2 and 5.5 all send information to the same people, like wildtangent. look at the fourm on skimming 5.5 to aviod spyware or get a program to get rid of it. as for having both, I like 5.2’s functionality better, but someone might need 5.5’s features at times. or you can put them in seperate folders when you download 5.5 so if you decide to get rid of it, 5.2 is still on your computer ready to go.

MemberIt is MSN Messenger, I don’t ever use windows messenger. I am running Windows ME and do not have access to regedit. To stop AIM or Windows messenger you just have to unceck a box. When I changed the properties on MSN it no longer starts up with outlook, but I always get an error message.

MemberI haven’t asked the person yet, I will as soon as I see them actually online, they are usually away. I know it’s not just something they typed in there, some of my buddies do have that. This is something that messes up the entire program where i can no longer recieve messages or check anyone’s information until i log off and sign back on.

MemberI’m not on dial-up. I can’t figure out why it just happens when i try to view that one sn’s information. it works jsut fine any other time or for anyone else.

Memberyou can have whatever sounds you want on AIM at least on the newer versions. go to ‘edit preferences’ then ‘im/chat’ then ‘sounds’ you will have a scroll down list, then a browse button, then a preview button. if you hit browse and then look where tigerblade said you should have a nice selection of .wav files. you can also search your computer for all .wav files using the ‘search for files and folders’ feature. you can also make your own .wav files using sound recorder or convert .mp3 files to .wav using something like musicmatch. i would try and keep the file size and length of the sound down, but i don’t think there is any limit.

Memberi downloaded the austrailian version and expressions with no problems, except all the smiley sets are the same. is there any way to get different smiley sets in AIM?

MemberIf you don’t want to put a link in your profile, you can still lengthen it to a certain extent. using AIM “edit profile” to edit your profile usually throws in several long, unneeded html tags. if you have a working knowledge of HTML you can still edit “info.html” on something like notepad, just don’t use more than 1,034 characters. I worked with mine for a little while and was able to get signifigantly more information in the profile.

MemberCan’t get the fire hydrants to work. Has anyone checked the code or is it just my computer again? Thanx.

MemberI’ve got windows ME with 356 MB RAM and 12 free GB on my hard drive. Aim version is 5.1.3036 with a broadband connection. I don’t think there is more recent full release of AIM although it could be the ME causing problems (it wouldn’t be the first time)

Membergreat job on the new smiler Jeff, looking forward to seeing them all up there. i still am having some problems on my machine that i think are still unanswered. A few of them like the snowmen NEVER work. you have doubled checked the code and some of the other members have too from post i’ve read. And they work on other computers obviously. does anyone know why they won’t work for me? i can’t think of any reason – most of them work fine.
rascat
MemberI made sure not to do it annonymously but there was still the 15% difference. I think he is on AOL and I am on AIM, woudl that effect it at all?
rascat
Memberi know shodges already asked about the snowmen, they still don’t work on mine. (the trees do tho!) I’m in no rush to use them, just thought i’d let you know.

MemberDoes anyone know if it is possible to set one of the smiley sets in the BigBlueBall Smiler as my default set or if I can mix sets to form my default set? I was thinking it might be possible using a technique similar to that of making your own set – but I want other people to see them without having to install them. Just wondering. Thanx!!!
